3. Quantity Surveyor (QS) is a professional working
within the construction industry concerned with
construction costs and contracts. The services provided
by Quantity Surveyor such as, Cost planning and
commercial management during the entire life cycle of
the project from inception to completion, Value
engineering, Risk Management, Procurement advice and
assistance during the tendering procedures, Commercial
Management and Contract Administration Assistance in
dispute resolution Asset Capitalizations.
Mr. HJ ZARIFUL HJ MOHAMED is professional in
Quantity Surveying field over 20 years. Now, he is a senior
Quantity Surveyor. As a senior Quantity Surveyor his job is
giving the advice and sharing the experience with other
Quantity Surveyor.
For Mr. ZARIFUL the most important factors that lead
to become a successful Quantity Surveyor is the passion
toward the jobs, he enjoy his jobs every single moment
and he did not felt his jobs as a burden. Besides, attitude
is a key to become successful person not only in term of
work but also in personality.

4. Quantity Surveyor
To ensure Quantity Surveyor can continue to getting jobs from
the client, they must provide good quality service and maintain a
good image toward the client so the opportunity of getting project
is much bigger.
What skill is required for Quantity Surveyor?
Management skills is much more important for QS such
as time management skills the reason to having a good
time management skill is the process of the construction
project will normally start from architect – engineer –
and the last is QS thus QS need to done their work in
limited time.
For Quantity Surveyor there are some insurance that
mush buy which is “Professional Indemnity Insurance”.
The income of a Quantity Surveyor is
unable to be controlled because it depend
on the construction industries.
There are some law needs to be
practice for QS but the law in different
country have their own law and must
not obey.

6. CONCLUSION
As a conclusion, through out the interview with
Mr. HJ ZARIFUL HJ MOHAMED I know more about the
Quantity Surveying. As he said “ attitude, not
attitude, depend on your attitude”, from his words I
realized how important attitude is toward not only for
jobs but also in life. Quantity Surveying is a
challenging job it required specific
knowledge, determination, perfection, responsibility,
and teamwork. Quantity Surveyor also play an
important rule in construction, without them it will
not be able for a construction project to run smoothly.
I really appreciate Ms.Normah for giving us this
chance to have an interview with the professional in
Quantity Surveying.
