Embraer reduces risk and costs with future proof data systems
The Embraer Legacy 500 and the smaller Legacy 450 variant are mid-sized business jets which began development in 2007. Embraer started development from the ground up with a totally new design.
The System
Acra KAM-500 Data Acquisition equipment was used in an Ethernet system. It was able to handle faster data rates to enable the removal of separate dedicated systems such as avionic bus recorders and engine monitoring units.
The Results
Lower risk and future proof solution
A 30% reduction in telemetry bandwidth
Saved time and money throughout the organization

Lower risk and future proof solution for FTI campaign
and subsequent aircraft development programs
• CWC-AE’s ability and commitment to develop backward
compatible modules to accommodate future bus
technologies was vital to ensure a future proof system.
• Developing a consistent core product line, rather than a
program orientated approach, lowers risk with long term
support and development. “ We wanted a system we could

A 30% reduction in bandwidth through
packetization and iNET-X technologies
• Using aperiodic transmission with the iNET-X protocol
reduced avionics bus data bandwidth requirements
by approximately 30%.
• Achieved by eliminating the buses stale data and
removing the need to oversample the bus. “ We looked at three other

• Training
• Data conversion
• Operational requirements
Full authority and control over the acquired data, without
the involvement of a third party, ensures it can be
distributed to any department without delay.
This kind of effort has many long term benefits as it can be
exploited over many years through different programs.
