First is your diet. You should try and stick to a diet that is
primarily plant based because this has been shown to be
a healthier diet in many studies. A plant based diet is also
full of anti-oxidants that help to reduce your risk of cancer.
The evidence supports fresh, organic fruits, vegetables
and whole grains. If possible you should try and stick to
organic versions.

3. One of the most protective families of vegetables is the
cruciferous family of vegetables. Some good choices are
broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale,
radishes and turnips.
Another nutrient that you should try and get more of is
omega-3s. Omega-3's shrink breast tumors and prevent
metastasis. Some good sources of omega-3s are Flax
seeds and fresh fish. Atlantic and farm raised salmon can
contain high amounts of PCBs' a potent cancer-causing
agent and is to be avoided absolutely. Canned salmon is

oxidants. You should also get enough Folic acid and
Vitamin B12. These vitamins have been found to prevent
DNA mistakes from occurring preventing normal cells from
mutating into cancer cells. Good sources of vitamin B-12
and or Folic acid are green vegetables, whole wheat,
eggs, shellfish, sardines and salmon.
A spice you may want to consider adding to your diet is
turmeric. Some studies indicate that turmeric is potent at
preventing cancer. Turmeric breaks down toxins in the
liver, is an anti-inflammatory, is a powerful anti-oxidant,
stimulates the immune system and promotes weight loss
by emulsifying fat. You can also use garlic, ginseng,
rosemary and black cohosh can also help to reduce the
risk of breast cancer.
Vitamin E is also a good vitamin to get enough of in your
diet. Vitamin E rich foods include avocados, almonds,
sweet potatoes, leafy green vegetables, wheat germ and
salmon. Vitamin E is a powerful anti-oxidant that helps
neutralize free radicals.
5. You should also avoid sugar and refined carbs because
these can cause a surge in insulin and some studies
indicate that this can cause a higher risk of breast cancer.
Also cancer cells crave and thrive off of sugar.
Besides diet you should get at least 30 minutes of aerobic
exercise three to five times a week. Some studies indicate
that exercise can lower the risk of breast cancer by 30 to
50 percent. Exercise is beneficial because it strengthens
the immunes system. Exercise can also regulate blood
sugar which can control insulin levels which can also
reduce the risk of breast cancer.
You will also want to ensure you get enough sleep. You
should get at least 7 hours of sleep per day in a dark
room. Melatonin is a powerful anti-oxidant hormone that
protects against breast cancer. Going to bed at 10 p.m.
increases the production of melatonin. Any light can
reduce this melatonin production so keep the lights out
and the room dark.
