understand and respect the symbolism of the rituals, the rights and beliefs which make up this revered
observance. For the Indian community is more than a simple sacrament it is a form of worship. With us for us as

14. But there are also variations within the Indian weddings. Hindu, Punjabi and Pakistani are all uniquely district in
their cemremonial rites and rituals.
Punjabi wedding traditions are expressions of the Punjabi culture. There are Sikhs and Muslim weddings which
take place both in Pakistan or Urdu. Among Hindus, the sacrament is usually conducted in Sanskrit. These
traditions have evolved over time and are notorious for delightful dances colorful dress and delicious spicy food.

15. One of the most energetic moments in a Punjabi, Hindu or Pakistani Indian wedding is the “Rut Jugga”. This is a
dance usually located in a fabulously decorated home. The “Rut Jugga” will last late into the night and even early
into the morning. It is a very loud celebration with much joy, dancing and food.
