3. University
Professor at an University - The degree-
completion program format is year-round and
enables adults who work full-time to earn a
bachelor’s degree. Classes meet in five-week
modules, allowing for flexibility in making progress
toward the student’s educational goals while
he/she manages work and family commitments.
4. Interview Questions
What do you like the about your job?
What I like most about my job is just being able to do something that I love to
which is teach. Teaching is a profession that keep every teacher mind young.
Every year there is something new to teach but I never deviate from the basic.
When I started teaching I was teaching third grade and I absolutely loved it,
being able to reach out to young minds and instill knowledge into them
brought me such joy. However, now I am a college professor and I must say
that job is very challenging. Now I am working with adults that pretty much
already have a lot instilled in their mind but when I am able to introduce
something new to them that they may have not known before it’s not only
enlighten for them but to me as well. When you have a passion for teaching it
doesn’t matter if your pupils are younger or older it’s still a pleasure.
5. Interview Questions
What are the challenges you face in your job?
Like I stated earlier the most challenges is trying to
introduce new things to adults that’s already
knowledgeable of the subject. Some of the learners have
already received degree in various area and their
returning to school simple because their job are sending
them. So trying to reach those adults can be a bit
challenging.
6. Interview Questions
What have you learned in your position?
What I learned in this position is to let the learners share a
lot of their work and life experience to most of their class
work. Adult learners have a lot to share about work and life
experiences and that gives them the opportunity to
express their feelings in their classwork. Therefore, That give
me the chance to captivate on the subject so I can tied it
in to a class work and make it a group discussion. Everyone
like to be heard from time to time.
7. Interview Questions
What advice do you have for someone starting out?
Always communicate with the learners as much as
possible never seem to busy for them. Teach a subject that
you are knowledgeable about and enjoy teaching it. In
other words something you can relate to on a professional
and maybe on a personal level. Remember some
assignment still need to be teach and not instruct. Thanks
so much for allowing me to share my experience and
much luck to all of you.
8. Summary
Adult learners have different ways of learning
some of them are self-directed and some are self-
determined. When the professor stated that some
subject you have to teach and not instruct. I
assumed that is when direct and determine plays
a role. You have some students that will figure it
out on their on but however, there are some who
needs to be directed.
