[constrained devices = some tiny little
spaces about 1mm2]
3. Research Questions
• Implementing ECC is ain’t simple.
Especially in constrained devices.
• How do you know that it’s secure and
implemented securely? [as if anybody
cares]
4. Problems (of doing the thesis)
• Lack of ability to explain to other
people about what I am doing.
• Too many interesting distractions
along the way.
• Still cannot manage how to do
deductive and inductive philosophical
way alternately.
5. Hypothesis
• There is exist some (generic) algorithm
to implement ECC.
• Different implementation algorithms
determine different level of security.
6. Methods (to solve the problems)

Improve an architecture to be
resistance against side channel
attacks.
8. Summary
• I’m supposed to build a race motor while
I’m distracted with the spare parts.
• I have to work twice or three times as
hard, to build the race motor at day and
do the spare parts at night.
• The strategy: pick up a race motor that
has won every competition, then
determine its efficiency and find out ways
to make it more efficient.
