1. Our Class
Our life skills class consists of five
students and three Polenta staff
members. In addition, one of our
students has a private nurse.
Our children are very popular! We
receive many visits from support staff
who enjoy working with our students.
2. Tyson
Tyson is a sweet, gentle
fourth grader. He is kind
and cooperative. We
enjoy Tyson’s cheerful
laughter and sweet
smile.
3. Theodore
Theodore is an energetic
kindergartener. He is
affectionate and loves to
snuggle. Theodore also
enjoys P.E. activities.
4. Oakley
Oakley is a fashionable
fifth grader who enjoys
wearing purple and
pink. She initiates new
friendships by offering
a sweet embrace. We
will miss her next year!
5. Daniel
Daniel is a first grader
who entertains us daily
with his lively singing.
We enjoy his positive
attitude and contagious
smile.
6. Malachi
Malachi is an animated
kindergartener who enjoys
interacting with peers and
teachers. He loves playing
percussion instruments and
greets everyone he meets with
a friendly smile.
7. Pam Martinez, Teacher
This is Mrs. Martinez’s 26th
year as a teacher. She lives
near Smithfield and enjoys
family, reading, and nature
activities . Mrs. Martinez
loves interacting with
Polenta’s life skills
students and views it as a
privilege to serve in this
capacity.
8. Melissa Paul, Teacher Assistant
This is Mrs. Paul’s fourth
year at Polenta. A native of
Garner, Mrs. Paul considers
it a blessing to serve our
students. Her hobbies
include spending time with
family, cooking & baking
and relaxing at the beach.
9. Corinna Stevens, Teacher Assistant
This is Mrs. Steven’s
fourth year as a Puma. A
resident of Clayton, she
loves watching our
students grow and
explore new skills. Mrs.
Steven’s hobbies include
spending time with
family, shopping and
working in her yard.
10. Carolyn Watford, Oakley’s Nurse
Ms. Watford resides in
Raleigh. She has served
as Oakley’s nurse for two
years. She finds this
position rewarding
because she is able to
provide consistent
medical care for Oakley.
Ms. Watford’s hobbies
include entertaining,
cooking, singing, and
relaxing.
