2. Biography:
• He was born on July 10th, 1856, in Smiljan, the actual Croatia.
• When he was three years, he lived through an episode that would mark the direction of his life.
• In 1875, Tesla began his studies at the Polythechnic University of Graz, in Austria and Praga.
• In 1884, he worked under the orders of Thomas Edison.
• In 1943, the United States Supreme Court recognized Nikola Tesla shortly before his death as
the inventor of the radio and returned the patent, which had been in Marconi’s possession up to
the time.
• He died alone on January 7th, 1943, in a hotel room in New York, at the age of 86, from heart
attack.
3. Inventions and discoveries
• Discovered the principle of the roating magnetic field.
• He created the first alternating current induction electric motor.
• In 1891, he invented the “coil”
• In 1893, he discovered the phenomenon of wave nature called “Tesla light”
• He invented the three-phase current induction motor.
• He introduced in 1898 an invention called “Teleautomaton”, a radio remote controlled miniature
boat.
• Tesla had patented the idea of the radio in 1986
