Peek at the Week:
o The students were introduced to the consonant
sound of /Uu/ and our new high frequency words
âdo, hasâ. We focused on the main idea of a
story, identified things that are over and under,
and blended short a, i and o words.
o In Math, we reviewed addition sentences,
practiced tally marks and counting by fives. We
also measured with our own âfootâ and a
standard âfootâ.
o Students practiced printing the upper and
lowercase letter Uu. We are still working on
printing full name and three sentences.
o During small group reading, students are working
on blending three sounds to make a word, taking
apart the three sounds and writing simple CVC
words.
Coming Up:
o In Reading, we will be reviewing and
taking our Unit Four test. We will be
working on quick recall of our high
frequency words. Students should know
a word by sight within five seconds.
o We will be reviewing main idea,
comparing and contrasting, positions
words (on, off, inside, outside, over,
under, up and down.)
o We will also practice listening for the /r/,
/p/, /l/, and /u/ sounds in words.
o In science, we will continue working on
the earthâs land and formations.
o In math, we will be continuing
measuring and place value.
o We are working on general hygiene for
health. We focused on good dental
practices and will move onto who helps
us stay healthy and safe medicine
handling.

Reminders
o Continue to practice counting by 2âs now.
Most students can count by tens and fives.
o Please have your child practice writing their last
name this will be assessed on the 3rd Quarter
Report card.
o Students can bring sweatshirts, sneakers to
leave in the school for use when needed.
Please remember to follow the snack
calendar. It is also posted on the website.
If you can help us keep the children warm by
donating gloves or hats, please send them in.
We are working on keeping track of gloves in
coat pockets so students stay warm on the
frigid days.
Students should bring a book bag to school
and their blue folder EVERY DAY. The white
folder should come back before Friday.
Please encourage your child to keep
personal items (toys) at home as they are
not safe in the hall locker and do not use
them in the classroom.
