TINIG KABATAAN
is composed of youth ages 15-25
who have various talents and
capabilities dedicated in empowering
youth through leadership, advocacy
and education. This effort encourages
youth to take control of their life
situations while building self-esteem
and improving the quality of life for
themselves and other talented youth.



Originally known as the Barkadahang Radyo-Radyo, The
TINIG KABATAAN (Voice of the Youth) was founded in
September 1996 by 5 talented young broadcasters, voice
talents, singers and youth leaders.

VOTY has it’s own
radio youth
program,

Radyo-Radyo and
Awit-Tawanan.
Awit-Tawanan
Aired over DZMM
630 KHZ every
Sunday from 10 -
12 from October
1996 - December
2000.

2001 to March 2002 .

TINIG KABATAAN
Believes that young people must be given the
opportunity to understand organizational issues and
develop their own advocacy skills. It is essential
that we actively engage youth in identifying their
needs, capabilities and talents allowing them to be
empowered to change the cycle of their lives.

TINIG KABATAAN members are dedicated to
servicing and presenting their talents to the young
people of the Philippines to promote youth
participation and development.



YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROJECT
The Youth Empowerment Project is dedicated to
serving the 1000 children and youth of Metro Manila
from 1997 to 2000.

TINIG KABATAAN council members consist of young
people between the ages of 15-25 from various
backgrounds, classes and experiences. These
youth work together to identify and address
talented children and youth issues for all youth of
Metro Manila.



In the short existence of the program we have
made an impact in the less fortunate children and
youth especially in the area of education and
advocacy.
In the area of youth leadership development and
community education, TINIG KABATAAN members
have been invited to present at several local,
national and international conferences. TINIG
KABATAAN members have been featured on
national television and radio programs;
newspapers; school and other community events.

maintain a web site,

The goals of the Youth Empowerment Project for
2003-2004 are:
1.) Continued improvement of educational
opportunities for talented children and youth.
2.) Provide leadership opportunities to VOTY
members.
3.) Increase community education of youth issues.



VOICE OF THE YOUTH NETWORK
• (Voice of the Youth Network) a national youth
network in the Philippines, led by youth,
empowered by technology. It has been initiated
as one of the major projects of TINIG
KABATAAN in December 2002. VOTY Network
brings together young people in more than 78
provinces within national networks to
collaborate on concrete projects addressing
national problems and creating positive change.


VOICE OF THE YOUTH NETWORK
• A powerful new force engaging youth in national
development, Voice of the Youth Network provides
young people with:
• inspiration to make a difference,
• information to realize their potential,
• involvement where their voice counts,
• action opportunities where they translate their
ideas into reality,and;
• connection to a nationwide and worldwide
community -- to take it national and global.


Our Vision:
• A nation in which young people,
empowered learners, join together to
bridge social, economic and technological
divides; where young and old work hand
in hand to dismantle cultural and
geographical barriers; shaping, exploring
and expressing lives rich with meaningful
and fulfilling experiences.


Our Purpose:
• To inspire young people to follow their dreams.
• To inform young people about the wealth of
opportunities that surrounds them.
• To involve young people in online and offline
communities where members & mentors
contribute to, and
• Gain from the Voice of the Youth experience
while fostering a sense of national, global
awareness, collaboration, and leadership.


What We Do:
• Create a national platform for dialogue, self-expression,
community involvement, and cultural exploration to
ensure that the voices of youth are heard and that their
initiatives are supported and acted upon.
• Develop and support a peer-to-peer learning
environment where youth teach each other through
workshops aimed at skill-building, showcasing projects,
and building mentorship relationships among the
network.
• Foster partnerships with like-minded organizations in
order to provide access to resources, and utilize our
technology platform to increase organizational capacity

Why youth participation?
Meaningful youth participation is about
recognizing and nurturing the strengths,
interests, and abilities of young people by
providing them with real opportunities to become
involved in decisions that affect them at individual
and systemic levels. This kind of participation
enhances youth health because it offers young
people a chance to develop important decision-
making and problem-solving skills, develop
meaningful relationships, and bolster self-esteem.

In Cooperation with Robert Sagun of Young Volunteers
for Sustainable Development. YVSD’s involvement on
freshwater issues include leading youth discussions on
sustainable water management as input to the 3rd World Water
Forum and coordinating with the Youth Water Action Team for
future collaborative partnerships. Interestingly, the 2003
International Year of Freshwater Secretariat of the UNESCO
Division of Water Sciences has solicited the support of YVSD
to serve as the National Focal Point for Youth in the
Philippines.
