Informative Speech Self Evaluation
Informative Speech self–evaluation I don't think that I did so well during this last presentation. I
did a lot of research about the drone I was talking about and I knew what I was going to say about
the product. When I got up there I realized I didn't know it as well as I thought I was going to. I
should have put more practice into my presentation. I felt like I practiced but it was all in my
mind. I never really put my PowerPoint up and practiced it in front of someone. When I got up
and started my presentation, I went through my attention getter and when I took my eyes off of
my cards I never really knew what I was going to say next. It was a lack of practice. To prepare for
my presentation. I did a lot of research about the drone the

Informative Speech Self–Evaluation Form 1.After re–watching your speech, do you think you
clearly explained a complex idea so that a non–expert audience could understand it? Was this a topic
that will help your audience in some way? Why or why not? How could you have done this even
more effectively? I think I clearly explained a basic concept of my topic. Technology is improving
step by step. And, I think the topic I choose clearly demonstrates how our world is changing and
how some technologies have an impact in the future. I believe my topic will help the audience in
some way. Many of us use transportation on our day–to–day basis. Thus, the topic I choose makes
transportation more accessible. I could have done it more effectively by...show more content...
One of the problems I faced was after many hours of practicing, I still found my self still having a
memorization issue. Due to that reason, my speech was a little here and there. However, I
believe after my speech the audience had a fundamental knowledge of my topic. 4.What are two
things that you did well and two things that you could have done better in the delivery of this
speech? Comparing to my pervious speeches, I thought I was more confident and effective. Since
we were in the small room, I made sure that the tone and volume of my voices were balanced.
Moreover, throughout the speeches I used various hand gestures to help me get connect with the
audience. Preparation is one the most effective way to improve in any kinds of speech.
Therefore, I could have done better by practice and preparing more. 5.What have you learned
from the process of developing and giving this speech? How can you build on this experience and
improve before your next speech? I have shown huge improvements on delivering speeches. This
process helped me to understand different kinds of speech and their expectations. The only way I
can think of improving is that to get myself be confortable and to do more preparations. Therefore,
the mistakes I made in this will help me to improve on the next

Speaking Style Evaluation
I would describe my speaking style as well structured, yet lacking confidence. I think my speech
outlines are organized appropriately and have the potential to be a great speech if delivered
properly. I know my greatest weakness involving speeches is my social anxiety though. I have been
terrified to talk to people in a non–casual way since as long as I can remember. I have become better
at speaking to groups over the years, but I have come to terms with the fact that I will never be able
to perform a speech properly. The proper way to present a speech is to make eye–contact as much as
possible, to avoid using note cards unless absolutely necessary, and to stand in a professional and
confident manner. I, unfortunately, do none of these. Due to my anxiety, I am unable to think
straight which causes me to have to completely rely on my notecards to remember what I need to
say, preventing me from making proper eye contact with my audience. Also, I do not stand in a
professional and confident manner because I am overly nervous, and feel uncomfortable during my
speech.
The evaluations I received from my last speech were for the most part useless. Only four of the
papers I received did not have everything checked. The four that were applicable though, heavily
agreed with what I already thought about my speaking capabilities. Three of the evaluations...show

My plan is to rehearse my speeches more, and to become comfortable with speaking to strangers
in a professional manner. I believe if I become more confident when speaking to strangers one on
one, it will increase my confidence speaking to multiple strangers. This will improve my stance,
and could help me speak more slowly and clearly. Increasing the amount of times I rehearse a
speech before presenting it may help me remember what I need to say. This could decrease the
amount of times I must look at my notes, and help me make more eye contact with my

Self Evaluation: Why You Should Eat More Healthy
In this paper I am going to be doing a self–evaluation on how well I did on my last speech. This past
speech was our second informative speech. My presentation was about "Why You Should Eat More
Healthy". For this particular speech I will discuss three different things that I felt I did well in my
informative presentation. Then, I am going to discuss the three different things on how I can
improve on making my speeches better. I will also tell you how I practice for my speeches. These are
just a couple of points that I am going to touch on in my self–evaluation. First, there are at least
three things I felt that I did well in my informative speech. In the 'Body' section of my speech I felt
that I gave good transition statements that helped to lead you into my next topic. I know that I
covered my different topics well by using a visual aid to keep my...show more content...
Now, if I were to practice with only you I think that it would assist me only a little. You could
show me some pointers on how I should project my speech, and give me tips on like what to do
with my body. Even though I think there are some parts in my speech that needs work I do know
what can make a good speech. For example, your opening introduction should catch the attention
of whoever the speech is targeted towards. Make sure your speech is well organized, so that it is
easy to flow with. I think that it is important to realize that your overall delivery as to be great to
be able to inform the audience. Another aspect on what makes a good speech is keeping your
peers engaged into what you are informing them about. Such as, you could use a slide show so, that
people can actually see with their own eyes what you are talking about. You could also tell a short
story that pertains to the speech or ask a rhetorical question to get people

The best thing I see myself doing during the introduction is catching their attention with the topic. I
saw myself move around more than I did in previous speeches, even though it was minimal. My
voice was the least shaky throughout the introduction as it was my most memorized part of my
speech. I believe overall, this speech was among one of my best speeches given during the duration
of the course. I believe I gave my audience great life examples during my speech to help them not
repeat the same mistakes I made.
Focus your assessment on what you would like to change about your speech. Analyze your speech
considering all aspects of the rubric. What would you like to change about this speech? This section
is worth 4 points.
I would change my overall confidence when delivering the speech. I would like to change how I
spoke and give more eye contact to the crowd. I would also instill more moving around the room
and creating a more energetic and emotional speech. I believe if I had more energy...show more

Base this assessment on what you can see and hear in your speeches. This section is worth 4 points.
I believe in terms of delivery I did alright in the informative and special occasion speech. I took a
tumble in delivery with the persuasive speech by not preparing well enough. In terms of delivery,
I feel I greatly became more confident as the semester went on excluding the persuasive speech.
The special occasion speech I began to move around a little while delivering the speech. I believe I
actually had forgotten about my lisp when delivering and preparing to deliver speeches as the
semester went on which is awesome. I see myself fidgeting less as the semester speeches went on as
well.
Revisit your goals from the beginning of the semester. How well did you achieve those goals and
why or why not? What adjustments to those goals did you make throughout the semester? This

Self Evaluation Since I had the opportunity to record my speech, I was able to point out the
strengths and opportunities for improvement more easily. One of my strengths is that I managed to
speak at a normal pace. I tend to speak faster than usual when I am nervous because I want to finish
in the shortest amount of time possible. In this speech, I was able to maintain a normal talking speed
which helped to make my speech more listenable. I also used stimulus through my hand motions. It
was not overbearing which can often happen but it was enough to make the delivery of my speech a
better one. An opportunity for improvement that turned into a strength was the pause in my speech, I
forgot what I was originally going to say but, I managed to

My Self-Evaluation Of Speech
This paper will discuss mine self–evaluation and do into detail about my first speech. My first
speech takes place in front of my class and I have to tell a story of an experience that has
happened to me. Telling a speech was a new experience for me and I embrace the challenge. A
speech can have an impact on a person life and the audience can also relate a topic that is being
presented. I will explore and go into the details of ethos, pathos and logos of my speech for my
personal assessment. I think I did a good job presenting my ethos through my speech story. I
convince my audience with my credibility through my speech and the way how talk throughout
the speech. For example, throughout my whole speech, I shown my hands and did not hide my
hands. By keeping my hands in plain view, it shows my audience nonverbally that I can be
trusted. The volume of my voice was at a normal speaking tone and was not too low. Most of my
audience was able to hear me and listen to me very clearly. I also presented myself with
confidence and gave off the impression that I was prepared. For example, I had a smile and had
constant eye contact with my audience throughout my speech. There was certain things that I was
doing that was ineffective while I was talking. Throughout my speech, I kept saying um and was
pausing at times. I did not realize how much I was saying and doing these actions. These actions are
something I need to work on more when I present my public communication to my audience

Self Evaluation Essay
The greatest start to the best speech is a good topic. The topic needs to be modern, up to date,
interesting and fun. All of this is depending on your audience as well, so you wouldn't want to
give a speech on the first phones invented to fifth graders. The topic should appeal to the audience,
and since most of my speeches will be done in my communication class my audience will be current
college students just like myself. This makes it a little easier preparing a speech because I am a
college student as well, so I have a bit of an idea of what may or may not appeal to my audience.
There are many things that I need to consider before giving a speech, things like, how to be fully
prepared with my information, how to not bore my audience to death,...show more content...
And being a college student myself I know how easy it is to lose attention on something. So I need
to make sure during my speech to make it interesting and bring a visual aide because I know that,
that may help me share my information better with students who learn better with visual aids as well
as I do. As stated in our Frealeigh and Tuman textbook "If you want audience members to actively
listen to your speech and ignore everything else going on you must motivate them to focus on what
you're saying. By selection supporting materials that appeal to your listeners interest, you sweeten
the odds that they will pay attention to you." So with this I feel that by getting something that most
of my classmates or audience can connect with, will make them feel the need to pay attention to
what I'm saying and actually have their full attention the entire time.
I feel like also learning what my classmate's interests are may help me grab and keep their attention
longer. Learning how to connect my topic to things they may like, for instance sports, famous
people, or politics may help me peek their interest and keep their mind on me and what I am saying
rather than looking around or look at their

Speech Self-Assessment
For my second speech self–assessment, I will start with the technical aspects of my speech. Then I
will continue with what I liked about my speech and what I thought I succeeded in. Finally, I will
move on to the areas where I think I can improve on. My speech had a clear specific purpose,
which I accomplished in the time given. It was well organized in the formal and keyword outline, as
well as the speech that was given. There was clear distinction between my introduction, my body
paragraphs, and my conclusion; and, I think the points transitioned together smoothly. I think for the
speech it was difficult to know how much research I should actually do. If this speech was for
students in any of the psychology course, then I would have conducted...show more content...
When I was writing the speech, I could not organize my thoughts until I had a working title. My
title helped me pull my speech together because it helped me realize something that I already
knew but was not clearly stated in my speech: stress is unavoidable. It was important for me to
emphasize that stress and stressors are an unavoidable part of life, and that perfectly healthy and
natural. Also, stress, and anything psychology related, has always been an interest of mine, so
this was a fun topic for me. However, I have a lot to say about the topic that I did not say because
of time and because of the simple fact that if I wanted to go deeper into the topic, the audience
would have gotten bored. The audience's interest in my speech play a big part in what I chose to
talk about because I wanted them to connect with something in my speech, for example, that is
why I chose to talk about what makes college students stressed. If I did not take the audience's
interest into consideration, then my entire speech would have looked at psychology's interpretation
of what stress is, but that would have probably bored the class. However, my love and appreciation
of my topic was also one of my

Entering COMS 100 I had this alter ego that I would do exceptionally well because I've previously
hosted events and public speaking was one of my strong suit. Even though the majority of the class
took this course the previous semester and had the upper advantage because they knew what to
expect unlike me. After presenting the self–introduce speech I felt that this course would require
more work and dedication than I originally anticipated. Through the 16 weeks of being a part of
COMS 100, I've learned multiple valuable lessons. First and most important, I had to cut off my
ego. I could no longer use the excuse that I use to host silly high school events and say I'm a great
public speaker. After my self–introduce speech, I made it my mission to do well on my
commemorative speech and all these different elements to make my speech one of the best. I put in
a long more effort into my second speech for two reasons; I wanted to show Mrs. J that I was...show

For both of my two previous speeches I was able to add a little insight from myself and give my
own thoughts and opinions. I was restricted from doing any of my own ideas for the informative
speech. I had to show the audience that I was not being basis and I wanted them to believe what I
believed. One of my biggest flaw in the informative speech was that I provided a little too much
information to the audience and in doing that I exceeded my time range. The second flaw I had
was during my speech, there was a lot of distraction in the audience and that threw me off. I was
not able to focus on what I was presentation and that caused me to be a little forgetful and I started
to stutter. I received an end grade of B– which to me was the worst thing imaginable. Rather than
being angry of the fact that I didn't do as well as I hoped, I took those comments and advice and

Essay about Self Reflection for Oral Presentation
Self Reflection for Oral Presentation Firstly, I would like to begin by saying that feedback was
very mixed and gave some very differing opinions on the presentation as a whole. As an example,
several reviewers stated that eye contact was poor throughout the presentation but several others
contradict this. Again this is apparent with the clarity and volume of our speech. According to half
the reviewers the presentation was too softly spoken and not clear with the other half praising our
clarity. Although this may simply be that some speakers held better eye contact than others or
someone was not very clear, it is impossible to determine who the review is aimed at individually
or at the group as a whole. This variation in opinions will...show more content...
Although we worked well together I feel we left our final preparation a little too late. This is
clearly shown during the portion of my speech where the PowerPoint slides were out of sync with
what I was saying. This also occurred during other sections where we were not entirely sure on
when to move to the next slide. Previous practice would have eliminated this problem and ensured
a smoother transition between slides and speakers. On the topic of the PowerPoint, the reviewers
were unanimous in that fact that it was rather bland and uninteresting or too overcrowded with
information. More time spent on 'prettying up' and compressing the information on the
PowerPoint would have given us a bonus with the audience. As presenters we failed to move
around to a degree of interest with the audience. Some said we were essentially hiding behind the
lectern or standing very still, which I fully support. We stood still and failed to make many
gestures toward the audience or our slides. There is also conflicting reviews on our use of
supporting notes and eye contact. There is definitely room for improvement when it comes to
reading off our notes, more practice together would have fixed this. We gained a very strong reaction
from the audience, one that received a fair amount of praise, with the construction and distribution of

Speech to Explain: Self Evaluation
For this speech I choose to have my topic be something I have a strong personal connection to
which was Rave culture, its history and practices. Choosing this to be my topic of choice I was able
to be motivated in researching it and I believe my genuine interest in the topic showed in my
presentation. In this self–eval I will be discussing the structure and style along with what I am taking
away from this speech.
First, I will be talking about the structure of my speech. When doing a speech to explain, like any
other speech it's important to have a clear and organized pattern. Essentially when creating my
outline for the speech I had made sure to have a clear and engaging intro and hook, meant to
clearly state my theme and then jump into the topic. Unfortunately when presenting the speech I
was unable to present my introduction as I would have liked and forgot to even mention my theme.
I was not very effective in my introduction but knowing so at my conclusion I was sure to clearly
state my theme. However,I believe my concluding sentence could have been more clear. To improve
I should in the future reinstate my topics and go over key points and leave the audience with
psychological closure rather than abruptly saying "that was all, thank you".
I felt that it would have been beneficial for me to use more visual aids in presenting my topic.
Rather than just talking about my topic and the music, I feel that if I showed some actual footage

For my assignment, I have been asked to do a self–evaluation on my introductory speech. The
introduction of my speech was excellent. I effectively communicated my quote, I stated the author,
and I told the audience what I have learned because of the quote. My first transition at 0:37 was
good, but it could have been a bit more fluid. I wish I would have found a better way to transition
from my introduction to my first point, but I couldn't think of a different way. My other transitions
were excellent. I used a timeline to effectively transition to my next story and I think it was very
clear and fluid. My conclusion was explicit in telling my audience that my speech was coming to an
end. My conclusion was effective in that I reiterated the main takeaways and I repeated the quote.
According to my taped speech on my phone, the time was 4:27, which means I met the minimum
time. For the organization of my speech, I would rate myself as "excellent." I would give myself
this rating because I believe I really couldn't have done a more effective job. The narrative
development and structure of my speech was excellent. Each of my stories was developed equally
and they were all very comparable in length. Each of my stories contained context, trouble ahead,
trouble, and the lesson learned. All three of my points contained the necessary details and
characteristics of the people involved in my story. It was enough that it gave my stories some
context, but not so much that it took away

This paper seemed very easy to me while I was writing it. After reading the response on the rough
draft, I have realized that I need to spend more time proofreading and editing my papers. I thought
I did very well on this paper but I was wrong. It seems like every time something seems very easy, I
usually get a poor grade on it. After viewing the tips that were left on my paper I have found out that
I need to work on many things. Some of these things include the length of my paragraphs, repetitive
use of one specific word, adding more personal experiences into my writing, and organizing my
thoughts effective enough to where they reach the page requirements of papers. I found these tips
very helpful because it has been quite a while since I have written an actual paper. I appreciate that I

For my speech evaluation, I will be taking a look at a speech given by Dr. Rick Rigsby during his
master's graduation ceremony. Rigsby begins his speech by making some comical jokes in the
beginning to liven up the crowd. He relates to the audience by saying he wears cowboy boots and
refers to himself as a "black neck redneck." After Rigsby gets the attention of his crowd, he begins
to go into to the message he wants to deliver to his audience. He begins by telling the audience of his
father who was a third grade dropout. Rigsby mentions that even though his father was a drop out
he had some of the wisest life lessons to teach. Dr. Rigsby then quotes Mark Twain stating "I never
let my schooling get in the way of my education." From their he explains that his father taught
himself how to right and read during the Jim Crow era of our country. Dr. Rigsby begins totell the
audience that he has three degrees and his brother is a judge, which he then says they are not the
smartest in the family. He explains that his father was the most educated. He then begins to quote
the sayings his father would always tell him from famous figures such as Michael Angelo, Henry
Ford, and his fathers own personal quotes. From their he quotes Aristotle saying "You are what
you repeatedly do." He then affirms that excellence should be a habit and not an act. He now
begins to talk about a former UCLA coach by the name of widen. He informs that this coach would

why I didn't quote any of my sources, but it is a very important thing to do and is bad when left

because for all they know you got it off of Wikipedia. I realized this was a major mistake and will
not let it happen again in my future speaking career. Not quoting my sources also made it unclear

Self Evaluation Essay On Ethos
Self–Evaluation Speaking is one of the hardest thing for me to do, especially public speaking.
From the Canons, ethos is partially difficult to express. I am person who has problem expressing
to others. The "I believe" speech was no different; before giving my speech, I knew ethos was no
my strong suit and needed to be work on. However, this speech differed from others as the speech
was more personal and it focused on what I value and believe in. This helped me create a greater
character to express to the audience. As I was wearing a suit, my speech was a bit credible and
convincing for me and for the public. The audience could see what I was talking about just by
looking at me. After giving my speech, I think my ethos might have increased a little. This speech
showed me what to do and not to do in the manner of engaging my audience with my ethos. I
believe my ethos has started to change because of the speech. As I presented, I believe the
audience was a bit confused. It could have been the insufficient production of air due to
exhaustion. This led me to be a bit out of tune with the public. Some of the audience might have
been lost due to my speech volume. Physically, one should be able to portray the voices across the
room with ease. However, it was impossible for me to do as I lack the physical potential to do so. If

Whether I like it or not I been given the opportunity to talk to large crowds like a squadron or just

and overall I just need to find the confidence in myself to do it.
How would you plan to improve weak areas to accomplish your goals? Overall no matter how
many times I do a rehearsal or practice I always get stage fright. Stage fright is my weakest area I
have done rehearsals and private or with one or two people but when it comes to the bigger

Speech Self Evaluation Essay

  • 1. Informative Speech Self Evaluation Informative Speech self–evaluation I don't think that I did so well during this last presentation. I did a lot of research about the drone I was talking about and I knew what I was going to say about the product. When I got up there I realized I didn't know it as well as I thought I was going to. I should have put more practice into my presentation. I felt like I practiced but it was all in my mind. I never really put my PowerPoint up and practiced it in front of someone. When I got up and started my presentation, I went through my attention getter and when I took my eyes off of my cards I never really knew what I was going to say next. It was a lack of practice. To prepare for my presentation. I did a lot of research about the drone the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Informative Speech Self-Evaluation Form Informative Speech Self–Evaluation Form 1.After re–watching your speech, do you think you clearly explained a complex idea so that a non–expert audience could understand it? Was this a topic that will help your audience in some way? Why or why not? How could you have done this even more effectively? I think I clearly explained a basic concept of my topic. Technology is improving step by step. And, I think the topic I choose clearly demonstrates how our world is changing and how some technologies have an impact in the future. I believe my topic will help the audience in some way. Many of us use transportation on our day–to–day basis. Thus, the topic I choose makes transportation more accessible. I could have done it more effectively by...show more content... One of the problems I faced was after many hours of practicing, I still found my self still having a memorization issue. Due to that reason, my speech was a little here and there. However, I believe after my speech the audience had a fundamental knowledge of my topic. 4.What are two things that you did well and two things that you could have done better in the delivery of this speech? Comparing to my pervious speeches, I thought I was more confident and effective. Since we were in the small room, I made sure that the tone and volume of my voices were balanced. Moreover, throughout the speeches I used various hand gestures to help me get connect with the audience. Preparation is one the most effective way to improve in any kinds of speech. Therefore, I could have done better by practice and preparing more. 5.What have you learned from the process of developing and giving this speech? How can you build on this experience and improve before your next speech? I have shown huge improvements on delivering speeches. This process helped me to understand different kinds of speech and their expectations. The only way I can think of improving is that to get myself be confortable and to do more preparations. Therefore, the mistakes I made in this will help me to improve on the next Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Speaking Style Evaluation I would describe my speaking style as well structured, yet lacking confidence. I think my speech outlines are organized appropriately and have the potential to be a great speech if delivered properly. I know my greatest weakness involving speeches is my social anxiety though. I have been terrified to talk to people in a non–casual way since as long as I can remember. I have become better at speaking to groups over the years, but I have come to terms with the fact that I will never be able to perform a speech properly. The proper way to present a speech is to make eye–contact as much as possible, to avoid using note cards unless absolutely necessary, and to stand in a professional and confident manner. I, unfortunately, do none of these. Due to my anxiety, I am unable to think straight which causes me to have to completely rely on my notecards to remember what I need to say, preventing me from making proper eye contact with my audience. Also, I do not stand in a professional and confident manner because I am overly nervous, and feel uncomfortable during my speech. The evaluations I received from my last speech were for the most part useless. Only four of the papers I received did not have everything checked. The four that were applicable though, heavily agreed with what I already thought about my speaking capabilities. Three of the evaluations...show more content... My plan is to rehearse my speeches more, and to become comfortable with speaking to strangers in a professional manner. I believe if I become more confident when speaking to strangers one on one, it will increase my confidence speaking to multiple strangers. This will improve my stance, and could help me speak more slowly and clearly. Increasing the amount of times I rehearse a speech before presenting it may help me remember what I need to say. This could decrease the amount of times I must look at my notes, and help me make more eye contact with my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Self Evaluation: Why You Should Eat More Healthy In this paper I am going to be doing a self–evaluation on how well I did on my last speech. This past speech was our second informative speech. My presentation was about "Why You Should Eat More Healthy". For this particular speech I will discuss three different things that I felt I did well in my informative presentation. Then, I am going to discuss the three different things on how I can improve on making my speeches better. I will also tell you how I practice for my speeches. These are just a couple of points that I am going to touch on in my self–evaluation. First, there are at least three things I felt that I did well in my informative speech. In the 'Body' section of my speech I felt that I gave good transition statements that helped to lead you into my next topic. I know that I covered my different topics well by using a visual aid to keep my...show more content... Now, if I were to practice with only you I think that it would assist me only a little. You could show me some pointers on how I should project my speech, and give me tips on like what to do with my body. Even though I think there are some parts in my speech that needs work I do know what can make a good speech. For example, your opening introduction should catch the attention of whoever the speech is targeted towards. Make sure your speech is well organized, so that it is easy to flow with. I think that it is important to realize that your overall delivery as to be great to be able to inform the audience. Another aspect on what makes a good speech is keeping your peers engaged into what you are informing them about. Such as, you could use a slide show so, that people can actually see with their own eyes what you are talking about. You could also tell a short story that pertains to the speech or ask a rhetorical question to get people Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Speech Self-Analysis The best thing I see myself doing during the introduction is catching their attention with the topic. I saw myself move around more than I did in previous speeches, even though it was minimal. My voice was the least shaky throughout the introduction as it was my most memorized part of my speech. I believe overall, this speech was among one of my best speeches given during the duration of the course. I believe I gave my audience great life examples during my speech to help them not repeat the same mistakes I made. Focus your assessment on what you would like to change about your speech. Analyze your speech considering all aspects of the rubric. What would you like to change about this speech? This section is worth 4 points. I would change my overall confidence when delivering the speech. I would like to change how I spoke and give more eye contact to the crowd. I would also instill more moving around the room and creating a more energetic and emotional speech. I believe if I had more energy...show more content... Base this assessment on what you can see and hear in your speeches. This section is worth 4 points. I believe in terms of delivery I did alright in the informative and special occasion speech. I took a tumble in delivery with the persuasive speech by not preparing well enough. In terms of delivery, I feel I greatly became more confident as the semester went on excluding the persuasive speech. The special occasion speech I began to move around a little while delivering the speech. I believe I actually had forgotten about my lisp when delivering and preparing to deliver speeches as the semester went on which is awesome. I see myself fidgeting less as the semester speeches went on as well. Revisit your goals from the beginning of the semester. How well did you achieve those goals and why or why not? What adjustments to those goals did you make throughout the semester? This section is worth 4 Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Self Evaluation Research Paper Self Evaluation Since I had the opportunity to record my speech, I was able to point out the strengths and opportunities for improvement more easily. One of my strengths is that I managed to speak at a normal pace. I tend to speak faster than usual when I am nervous because I want to finish in the shortest amount of time possible. In this speech, I was able to maintain a normal talking speed which helped to make my speech more listenable. I also used stimulus through my hand motions. It was not overbearing which can often happen but it was enough to make the delivery of my speech a better one. An opportunity for improvement that turned into a strength was the pause in my speech, I forgot what I was originally going to say but, I managed to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Self-Evaluation Of Speech This paper will discuss mine self–evaluation and do into detail about my first speech. My first speech takes place in front of my class and I have to tell a story of an experience that has happened to me. Telling a speech was a new experience for me and I embrace the challenge. A speech can have an impact on a person life and the audience can also relate a topic that is being presented. I will explore and go into the details of ethos, pathos and logos of my speech for my personal assessment. I think I did a good job presenting my ethos through my speech story. I convince my audience with my credibility through my speech and the way how talk throughout the speech. For example, throughout my whole speech, I shown my hands and did not hide my hands. By keeping my hands in plain view, it shows my audience nonverbally that I can be trusted. The volume of my voice was at a normal speaking tone and was not too low. Most of my audience was able to hear me and listen to me very clearly. I also presented myself with confidence and gave off the impression that I was prepared. For example, I had a smile and had constant eye contact with my audience throughout my speech. There was certain things that I was doing that was ineffective while I was talking. Throughout my speech, I kept saying um and was pausing at times. I did not realize how much I was saying and doing these actions. These actions are something I need to work on more when I present my public communication to my audience Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Self Evaluation Essay The greatest start to the best speech is a good topic. The topic needs to be modern, up to date, interesting and fun. All of this is depending on your audience as well, so you wouldn't want to give a speech on the first phones invented to fifth graders. The topic should appeal to the audience, and since most of my speeches will be done in my communication class my audience will be current college students just like myself. This makes it a little easier preparing a speech because I am a college student as well, so I have a bit of an idea of what may or may not appeal to my audience. There are many things that I need to consider before giving a speech, things like, how to be fully prepared with my information, how to not bore my audience to death,...show more content... And being a college student myself I know how easy it is to lose attention on something. So I need to make sure during my speech to make it interesting and bring a visual aide because I know that, that may help me share my information better with students who learn better with visual aids as well as I do. As stated in our Frealeigh and Tuman textbook "If you want audience members to actively listen to your speech and ignore everything else going on you must motivate them to focus on what you're saying. By selection supporting materials that appeal to your listeners interest, you sweeten the odds that they will pay attention to you." So with this I feel that by getting something that most of my classmates or audience can connect with, will make them feel the need to pay attention to what I'm saying and actually have their full attention the entire time. I feel like also learning what my classmate's interests are may help me grab and keep their attention longer. Learning how to connect my topic to things they may like, for instance sports, famous people, or politics may help me peek their interest and keep their mind on me and what I am saying rather than looking around or look at their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Speech Self-Assessment For my second speech self–assessment, I will start with the technical aspects of my speech. Then I will continue with what I liked about my speech and what I thought I succeeded in. Finally, I will move on to the areas where I think I can improve on. My speech had a clear specific purpose, which I accomplished in the time given. It was well organized in the formal and keyword outline, as well as the speech that was given. There was clear distinction between my introduction, my body paragraphs, and my conclusion; and, I think the points transitioned together smoothly. I think for the speech it was difficult to know how much research I should actually do. If this speech was for students in any of the psychology course, then I would have conducted...show more content... When I was writing the speech, I could not organize my thoughts until I had a working title. My title helped me pull my speech together because it helped me realize something that I already knew but was not clearly stated in my speech: stress is unavoidable. It was important for me to emphasize that stress and stressors are an unavoidable part of life, and that perfectly healthy and natural. Also, stress, and anything psychology related, has always been an interest of mine, so this was a fun topic for me. However, I have a lot to say about the topic that I did not say because of time and because of the simple fact that if I wanted to go deeper into the topic, the audience would have gotten bored. The audience's interest in my speech play a big part in what I chose to talk about because I wanted them to connect with something in my speech, for example, that is why I chose to talk about what makes college students stressed. If I did not take the audience's interest into consideration, then my entire speech would have looked at psychology's interpretation of what stress is, but that would have probably bored the class. However, my love and appreciation of my topic was also one of my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Self Evaluation Research Paper Self–Evaluation Entering COMS 100 I had this alter ego that I would do exceptionally well because I've previously hosted events and public speaking was one of my strong suit. Even though the majority of the class took this course the previous semester and had the upper advantage because they knew what to expect unlike me. After presenting the self–introduce speech I felt that this course would require more work and dedication than I originally anticipated. Through the 16 weeks of being a part of COMS 100, I've learned multiple valuable lessons. First and most important, I had to cut off my ego. I could no longer use the excuse that I use to host silly high school events and say I'm a great public speaker. After my self–introduce speech, I made it my mission to do well on my commemorative speech and all these different elements to make my speech one of the best. I put in a long more effort into my second speech for two reasons; I wanted to show Mrs. J that I was...show more content... For both of my two previous speeches I was able to add a little insight from myself and give my own thoughts and opinions. I was restricted from doing any of my own ideas for the informative speech. I had to show the audience that I was not being basis and I wanted them to believe what I believed. One of my biggest flaw in the informative speech was that I provided a little too much information to the audience and in doing that I exceeded my time range. The second flaw I had was during my speech, there was a lot of distraction in the audience and that threw me off. I was not able to focus on what I was presentation and that caused me to be a little forgetful and I started to stutter. I received an end grade of B– which to me was the worst thing imaginable. Rather than being angry of the fact that I didn't do as well as I hoped, I took those comments and advice and better myself for the last Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay about Self Reflection for Oral Presentation Self Reflection for Oral Presentation Firstly, I would like to begin by saying that feedback was very mixed and gave some very differing opinions on the presentation as a whole. As an example, several reviewers stated that eye contact was poor throughout the presentation but several others contradict this. Again this is apparent with the clarity and volume of our speech. According to half the reviewers the presentation was too softly spoken and not clear with the other half praising our clarity. Although this may simply be that some speakers held better eye contact than others or someone was not very clear, it is impossible to determine who the review is aimed at individually or at the group as a whole. This variation in opinions will...show more content... Although we worked well together I feel we left our final preparation a little too late. This is clearly shown during the portion of my speech where the PowerPoint slides were out of sync with what I was saying. This also occurred during other sections where we were not entirely sure on when to move to the next slide. Previous practice would have eliminated this problem and ensured a smoother transition between slides and speakers. On the topic of the PowerPoint, the reviewers were unanimous in that fact that it was rather bland and uninteresting or too overcrowded with information. More time spent on 'prettying up' and compressing the information on the PowerPoint would have given us a bonus with the audience. As presenters we failed to move around to a degree of interest with the audience. Some said we were essentially hiding behind the lectern or standing very still, which I fully support. We stood still and failed to make many gestures toward the audience or our slides. There is also conflicting reviews on our use of supporting notes and eye contact. There is definitely room for improvement when it comes to reading off our notes, more practice together would have fixed this. We gained a very strong reaction from the audience, one that received a fair amount of praise, with the construction and distribution of mockup flyers for our Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Speech On Self Evaluation Speech to Explain: Self Evaluation For this speech I choose to have my topic be something I have a strong personal connection to which was Rave culture, its history and practices. Choosing this to be my topic of choice I was able to be motivated in researching it and I believe my genuine interest in the topic showed in my presentation. In this self–eval I will be discussing the structure and style along with what I am taking away from this speech. First, I will be talking about the structure of my speech. When doing a speech to explain, like any other speech it's important to have a clear and organized pattern. Essentially when creating my outline for the speech I had made sure to have a clear and engaging intro and hook, meant to clearly state my theme and then jump into the topic. Unfortunately when presenting the speech I was unable to present my introduction as I would have liked and forgot to even mention my theme. I was not very effective in my introduction but knowing so at my conclusion I was sure to clearly state my theme. However,I believe my concluding sentence could have been more clear. To improve I should in the future reinstate my topics and go over key points and leave the audience with psychological closure rather than abruptly saying "that was all, thank you". I felt that it would have been beneficial for me to use more visual aids in presenting my topic. Rather than just talking about my topic and the music, I feel that if I showed some actual footage Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. For my assignment, I have been asked to do a self–evaluation on my introductory speech. The introduction of my speech was excellent. I effectively communicated my quote, I stated the author, and I told the audience what I have learned because of the quote. My first transition at 0:37 was good, but it could have been a bit more fluid. I wish I would have found a better way to transition from my introduction to my first point, but I couldn't think of a different way. My other transitions were excellent. I used a timeline to effectively transition to my next story and I think it was very clear and fluid. My conclusion was explicit in telling my audience that my speech was coming to an end. My conclusion was effective in that I reiterated the main takeaways and I repeated the quote. According to my taped speech on my phone, the time was 4:27, which means I met the minimum time. For the organization of my speech, I would rate myself as "excellent." I would give myself this rating because I believe I really couldn't have done a more effective job. The narrative development and structure of my speech was excellent. Each of my stories was developed equally and they were all very comparable in length. Each of my stories contained context, trouble ahead, trouble, and the lesson learned. All three of my points contained the necessary details and characteristics of the people involved in my story. It was enough that it gave my stories some context, but not so much that it took away Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Self Evaluation On My Papers Self–Evaluation This paper seemed very easy to me while I was writing it. After reading the response on the rough draft, I have realized that I need to spend more time proofreading and editing my papers. I thought I did very well on this paper but I was wrong. It seems like every time something seems very easy, I usually get a poor grade on it. After viewing the tips that were left on my paper I have found out that I need to work on many things. • 15. Speech Evaluation Speech For my speech evaluation, I will be taking a look at a speech given by Dr. Rick Rigsby during his master's graduation ceremony. Rigsby begins his speech by making some comical jokes in the beginning to liven up the crowd. He relates to the audience by saying he wears cowboy boots and refers to himself as a "black neck redneck." After Rigsby gets the attention of his crowd, he begins to go into to the message he wants to deliver to his audience. He begins by telling the audience of his father who was a third grade dropout. Rigsby mentions that even though his father was a drop out he had some of the wisest life lessons to teach. Dr. Rigsby then quotes Mark Twain stating "I never let my schooling get in the way of my education." From their he explains that his father taught himself how to right and read during the Jim Crow era of our country. Dr. Rigsby begins totell the audience that he has three degrees and his brother is a judge, which he then says they are not the smartest in the family. • 16. Self Evaluation Essay On Divorce Self–Evaluation 136. In this speech, a big thing that detracted from it was not quoting anything. I don't understand why I didn't quote any of my sources, but it is a very important thing to do and is bad when left out. It is hard to be credible if you're not telling your audience where you got your information, because for all they know you got it off of Wikipedia. I realized this was a major mistake and will not let it happen again in my future speaking career. Not quoting my sources also made it unclear if I had to research most of my information or if I just knew most of it. I got a lot of my information from my own knowledge and from another person who experienced the situation. I think I appeared somewhat knowledgeable. I felt very confident during my speech. I also had...show more content... The organization of my speech with something I put a lot of my time into. When setting up my PowerPoint, I tried really hard to make sure that the order flowed correctly. I I went through my speech several times to ensure that it made sense and the each slide was building on top of each other to make it to my main point. I went from the causes of a divorce, the steps of one, the effect it can have on children, and how to reduce negative effects. I started with the causes of a divorce because when I was researching there were some that surprised me such as boredom. I wanted my audience to know all of the reasons. I went on to steps of a divorce because this is one that I wasn't educated on, until a family member went through one. I wanted to really emphasize how a divorce had the possibility of taking anywhere from a couple months to years. I wanted to end my speech on the effects divorce can have on children and how they can be helped because this is the part I wanted to build my speech up to. If I had to do the speech over, I wouldn't change how I placed my speech. I thought the organization of my speech was one of the better parts of my speech and it all fit together very Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Self Evaluation Essay Sample I walked onto the stage from the left wing only to be blinded by fluorescent lights. The audience in front of me was a dim sea of indistinguishable figures waiting to judge my performance. The soft murmurs from the crowd as I walked towards the chair made my heart race and my thoughts run wild. My shaky hands held a white–knuckled grip on the neck of my guitar. I finally made my way to the seat and promptly began playing my recital piece. A minute and a half later I rushed off the stage full of disappointment and regret. I knew my performance was mediocre at best, and that I let the pressure of public performance get to me. From that moment on I made the choice to always properly prepare myself for performances, events, and even small public speaking presentations. ...show more content... The dedication and countless hours of practice and preparation taught me that although being passionate is an important part of achieving success, it is not always enough to excel and that it is necessary to be methodical and practical when it comes to preparation and learning overall. I have since taken my guitar and music based knowledge and turned it into a job. I currently teach a variety of different students in the Las Vegas community how to play guitar, read music, and develop strong practice habits that will help them in any field they choose to pursue in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Self Evaluation Essay On Ethos Self–Evaluation Speaking is one of the hardest thing for me to do, especially public speaking. From the Canons, ethos is partially difficult to express. I am person who has problem expressing to others. The "I believe" speech was no different; before giving my speech, I knew ethos was no my strong suit and needed to be work on. However, this speech differed from others as the speech was more personal and it focused on what I value and believe in. This helped me create a greater character to express to the audience. As I was wearing a suit, my speech was a bit credible and convincing for me and for the public. The audience could see what I was talking about just by looking at me. After giving my speech, I think my ethos might have increased a little. This speech showed me what to do and not to do in the manner of engaging my audience with my ethos. I believe my ethos has started to change because of the speech. As I presented, I believe the audience was a bit confused. It could have been the insufficient production of air due to exhaustion. This led me to be a bit out of tune with the public. Some of the audience might have been lost due to my speech volume. Physically, one should be able to portray the voices across the room with ease. However, it was impossible for me to do as I lack the physical potential to do so. If given...show more content... I dressed for the speech and illustrated the public about my speech.
