As planners or similar entities, our job may involve gatekeeping information for the decision-making process and articulating the challenges to the public. With a collaborative knowledge-making process, the particularities of the relationship may look different from how planning is being practiced now or even 5 years ago.
There is a role for conversations with the public in every part of this process.
