• The Skills Center is an
individual skill development
lab. While here, you will
acquire the skills necessary
to make you a more
successful student in your
subject area.
• We also offer you a quiet
and structured
environment that helps
you practice the concepts
you are learning in class.
4. General Skills Center Hours
Monday-Thursday
7:30 am - 8:30 pm
Friday
7:30 am – 3:30 pm
Saturday
10:00am – 2:00pm
Reduced hours during summer session.

will receive one the first time you visit)
Getting ready to use the
Skills Center
Material Check-out Cards are available at
the Skills Center front counter.
6. To start: Scan in
and select your class
NOTE - IF YOU DO NOT SCAN IN YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT!!!
Select your class from the list by
touching it on the screen.
Scan the
barcode on
your ID
under the
scanner.
(You will hear
one beep)

7. Check in: Present your
Material Check-out Card
• Fill out required information on
the front and back of the
Material Check-out Card.
• Bring your lab contract or
assignment sheet with you and
know what you want to work on.
• Hand your Material Check-out
Card to the aide at the counter.
• Ask for the materials you need.
8. Check in:
Obtain a Carrel Card
Get a Carrel Card.
This is your assigned seat.
If you must change your seat, take
your carrel card to the counter and
an employee will assign a new seat.
If you change seats and do not
inform us, we may assign the seat
to someone else.
9. Log On to the Computer
1. Log on using your student ID
number as the Username
2. Enter your MyGateway password
If you need to change
your password, you
must reset it in
MyGateway!
See an Instructional Assistant if you have
trouble changing your password.
10. Campus Printing
Keep your receipt from the bookstore.
If there is a problem with printing, lab personnel
will ask you for the receipt.
Printing costs $0.05 per page and MUST be
purchased in the bookstore.
Make sure you are
printing to a Skills
Center printer.
11. Check out:
Log off the computer
• Click on the
Office Button
(at the bottom left of
your screen)
• Click on Log Off
12. Check out:
Return your Carrel Cards and
retrieve your Material Check-out Card
A Lab Aide will
return your Material
Check-out Card at
the front desk.
Look at the NAME
on the card to be
sure it is your
card.

the Carrel Cards &
materials to the counter.
13. Scan your ID only
(If you do not scan out, you will
receive NO minutes for the time
you spent in the lab.)
You may NOT spend more than two hours in the Skills
Center per session. Any time over two hours
will not be credited to you.

when a computer,
program, or other
equipment is not
working properly.

Staff are here to help you get the most
out of your time in the lab.
15. Follow the Rules
• You may only use the center to meet your lab
requirements during your free time.
• Students time spent in the lab will not be
counted if the student is scheduled to be in
another class during that time.
Do not write in Skills Center materials or remove
any materials from the Center.
Be courteous to other lab users:
No cell phone use. Turn off or mute your phone.
No food or drink allowed in the Center.
No study groups or loud talking.
No guests.
