Instructions You are required to develop a JSA for a workplace task, this JSA will also include site hazards including traffic management. You will rate these hazards using the hierarchy of control to identify the risk. This JSA must be compliant with Federal, State and Territory legislation, Australian Codes of Practice, Australian Standards, and Industry standards. On completion of the task, you will review the JSA. Instructions: In this task you a required to assist other people in unloading construction material from a truck. The task will involve guiding and directing the driver of the truck into the G Block workshop ensuring the safety of any students or staff in the area using barricades, signage, and verbal/hand signal communication. The construction material includes plywood sheets, timber and cement will be manually unloaded, moved to appropriate areas, and stored according to WHS regulations and CIT Policy and Procedure The bags of cement will be manually unloaded and stacked safely on a pallet for the forklift to pick up and store Identify the job task and determine work requirements: From the information received from Supervisor, Foreman or Manager or other people that may be involved, determine precisely what the task is, when it will happen and how it will happen. This task will be done while apprentices are working in the Barn, and their safety must be ensured as well as your own safety. Hazards â other workers nearby, other vehicles, storage racks, people doing the task You must guide the driver safely into the barn using workplace communication, both verbally and hand signals. You must ensure isolation of the work area using safety fencing and signage. You will maintain correct manual handling technique while unloading and storing the materials You need to use appropriate trolleys for moving heavy loads The materials will be stored so as not to create a danger to persons in the Barn Use delivery inventory to determine the hazardous chemical and source appropriate SDS before delivery arrives Determine and review WHS requirements You will complete the JSA to the requirements of the 2011 WHS ACT, relevant codes of Practice such as Model Code of Practice for Construction Hazards, Hazardous Manual Task Code of Practice, as well as CIT WHS policy and procedure such as use of motor vehicles on campus and manual handling task.

Note the access ways for students and teachers and ensure emergency response procedures are not compromised. Overview Guide the reversing driver through the roller doors and into the loading area inside the Barn Break task down into steps Identify all hazards in each step Determine risk levels of hazards Apply the hierarchy of control to eliminate or reduce the risk Review JSA before starting work with a Toolbox talk Control any new hazard identified Time Allowed 2 hours Assessment Conditions Assessment will be always conducted in simulated work environment CIT Bruce under teacher supervision. If at any stage the assessor deems the assessment to be unsafe it will be stopped. Access to all resources, manual and standards is permitted. All mobile phones are to be switch off. Materials Provided by CIT All materials, tools, Policies, Codes of Practice, SDS, required to complete the task will be provided. Materials You Need Personal protective equipment (PPE), and a devise to upload assessment into Ready Skills Attempts You may have at least two (2) attempts for this assessment. ï· If your first attempt is not successful, your teacher will discuss your results with you and will arrange a second attempt.

Please refer to the CIT Assessment Policy if you have any questions. A JSA assists in documenting a work task and allows consideration for the safest way to complete it. It is a way of identifying the hazards involved in doing the specific job and what controls are required to prevent an injury when undertaking the task. The JSA should be completed by all workers involved in the activity for medium to high-risk tasks.
