2. Climate Table
Invitation to private parties, citizens and NGO’s to
discuss energy solutions for the city
1st Climate Table. Host: Nuon (energy supplier)
Goal: Develop “Energy reduction model” for
“Buiksloterham” (redevelopment area Amsterdam North)
Combination of housing and working
6. Result of the climate table:
It is possible to reach 45% - 80% CO2 reduction in the
following Years (1990) in a combined “energy model”
on three “levels”:
1. Building
2. Using
3. Area
Strong relation between these three levels .....
7. Lessons learned
1. Similar to the plans of the municipality (building level)
2. Emphasis on the elusive component “behavior” (Use level)
3. New combination of companies
4. Financial solutions on energy saving measurements
8. Building and using a building
•Municipal buildings in Amsterdam
•HOW?
•Develop “tool” to support principal and design
team in developing CO2 neutral buildings
•Roadmap to CO2 neutral buildings........
9. Development of Roadmap
Research by literature and consulting private parties.
Cooperation of Technical University Eindhoven and
Municipality Amsterdam
10. Roadmap
Important recommendations:
1. Combine “building process” with “use process”
2. CO2 neutral has to be the leading principle
3. Energy prognosis
4. Energy model prior to building design
5. Integrated Design supported by energy engineer
6. Balance between energy demand and supply
7. Continues energy management
11. Combine Use proces with Building

how do we work?
energy demand?
12. Next Step:
CO2 neutral buildings possible. The challenge lies in the
combination of building, using and area level.
