This document discusses stress-reducing services for Stanford males aged 18-20 who are no longer high-achieving but average. It proposes four services: 1) Yoga, which studies show reduces mood and anxiety; 2) Daily positive self-checks to think of three good things in one's situation; 3) Daily inspirational quotes to shift mindsets toward the big picture; 4) Support groups to help students realize others feel the same way and they are not alone in their struggles.
2. Expert Focus Helping Stanford 18-20 year old males who used to be high school stars but are now academically and socially average stay focused and positive after failures (ie failing a test, losing an election)
3. Service/Practice #1- Yoga Studies show that doing yoga has a positive effect on mood and anxiety, which is exactly what this niche needs to continue pushing forward when things don't go their way.
4. Service/Practice #2- Positivity Checks Randomly throughout the day (prompted by a text), the stressed student would pause for one minute and think of 3 things he likes about his current situation. "Situation" is meant to be vague, whether it is 3 things in life that makes him happy, or 3 things in his exact moment.
5. Service/Practice #3- Reinforcement Quotes Powerful daily quotes and reminders of the big picture may be helpful in sparking mindset change. There are tons of powerful truisms and quotes out there that can remind people of what's important. Personally, I often am able to move on from a situation better once I am consciously reminded of the fact that "It is done and there is nothing I can do about it".
6. Service/Practice #4- Communication Realizing that not everyone around the student at Stanford cured cancer and that there are many others around the student that feel this way may help the student feel less alone and as less of a failure. This can be done through forums and support groups.
