To whom it may concern,
My name is Amy Dickerson and I am the Director of Human Resources at PowerScore Inc., a
national test preparation company headquartered in Charleston, SC. I am writing this letter to
emphatically endorse Colin Pociask for employ with your company. Having worked with Colin
during the summer of 2010, and having continued a close friendship with him since that time, I am
able to speak with authority of his unflagging dedication, capable decision-making abilities, and the
general delightfulness of his character. My confidence in him is so great that I have no reservation
in strongly recommending him for your team.
Over the last seven and a half years I have worked with many different interns. The majority of our
interns are very fine, one or two have been disappointing, and occasionally … one is a superstar. I
include Colin in this small distinguished group. Colin helped me keep track of our almost 400
instructors around the country, helped assign them to the hundreds of classes they teach, arranged
any travel required, and synched schedules to rearranged classes. Another primary duty was assisting
me to recruit instructors for cities with open teaching positions that needed to be filled, and he easily
learned to navigate posting and recruiting websites, and research ways to find suitable applicants (not
an easy feat as each applicant must have scored in the 99 th percentile on the LSAT, GMAT, or GRE)
for open markets. Even though Colin was only beginning his senior year at university, he had the
confidence to work autonomously, and I soon began trusting him to assess resumes, to set up
interviews that he himself conducted, and to provide me with an overview of the candidate as well as
a recommendation for their advancement to an interview with me, if warranted.
Colin has great attention to detail and is capable of juggling many tasks competently. Upon being
assigned a task, he always impressed me by making sure he understood completely what it was that I
required. He did not often return later with questions, or simply do the assignment to the best of his
comprehension at the time; instead he asked questions upfront until he had a complete understanding
of the project. I thought then, and feel now, that his behavior and work ethic consistently shows an
unusual degree of maturity and self possession for a young professional at the beginning his career.
One last attribute I want to mention is Colin’s engaging personality. Not only will he always
represent your company with dignity and respect, he will be, for those on his team, a joy to work
with. Within a week of coming to PowerScore he had already made friends with the majority of our
staff, all of whom still can’t wait to see him at our company events (to which his attendance remains
mandatory!). Colin is a gem; I heartily recommend that you snatch him up for whatever open
position you have available. He will grow and learn quickly – you will be able to rely on him to fill
any number of different roles.
I welcome the opportunity to discuss further with you Colin’s skills and attributes. Feel free to call
or email me anytime.
Sincerely,
Amy Dickerson
