“Living The Good Life” Techniques to help you realistically live the life you’ve always wanted
“Success is neither magical or mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals.” -Jim Rohn
Goals and Goal Setting What is a goal? Can goals be changed? Rules of Goal setting What if I don’t reach my goal ?
What is a goal? A goal is the object of a person’s ambition; an aim or a desired result (dictionary). It is a learned skill that can be learned by anyone. Small Goals vs. Big Goals All goals should be written down
Composing a Goal Goals should begin with “To…” All goals must be dated Goals should be written to be changed, when necessary Once goals are accomplished, they should be checked off
Goals are steps to something else, a larger goal– “The Bigger Picture” No goal by itself is the end. We should question and understand where each goal will lead.
Rules of Goal-Setting Goals must be written down Goals must be dated Goal dates should be flexible Goal plans should always include obstacles and action steps All goals should be tracked
Goals and Visions Visions are the “The Big Picture” your goals will lead you to Goals should be seen as “small steps” that will lead you to your vision/”Big Picture”
Ask yourself: “Where are my goals going to take me? All goals are small steps towards your vision.
Obstacles and Action Steps
Obstacles do occur Action steps help you decide ahead of time what you will do during a “What If?” situation Preparedness helps you spend less time panicking Similar to being prepared for a natural disaster before the meterologist tells you one a storm is approaching.
What is tracking?
Tracking is monitoring your goals. Re-dating goals Checking off accomplished goals Daily progress check (workbook) Modifications Re-evaluations No tracking=Failure to reach goal!
“Passive” vs. “Active” Goals Passive goals: hopes dreams wishful thinking undefined desires No plan to reach goal!
Active goals: Action plan Dates Precision Specific way of achieving goal Personal responsibility!
“Someday, I’d like to…”
                  NO! NO! NO!
It’s O.K. to dream but you must develop a goal plan. Dream goals have no action plan and no follow-up plan of action! Dream but plan!!!

  1. How is it that certain people are living happy lives with seemingly no effort while you are struggling just to be happy? Are you scratching your head as to how you can live a better life in which stress is less? How do you set and reach goals? How do you stay motivated while reaching goals? What on earth is a goal and how do you come up with one? This presentation will give you a better understanding of goals, goal setting and getting the support you need in order to achieve those goals and stay on track.
  2. Goals are something one has in mind to achieve. The path to achieving this goal is often difficult and littered with hurdles that may cause us to pause or steer us off course.Anyone can learn how to write a goal (and I will show you how later in this presentation). It is just achieving the goal that is oftentimes difficult.
  3. Part of the process of writing a goal should include ‘what if” circumstances just in case something gets in the between you and your goal. Things do happen and it is better to be prepared for these times.
