2. LUKE 6:38
"Give, and it will be given to you:
good measure, pressed down, shaken
together, and running over will be put
into your bosom. For with the same
measure that you use, it will be
measured back to you."
3. THE DIVINE PRINCIPLE
JESUS STATED A DIVINE PRINCIPLE
TO RECEIVE. HE SAID :
"Give, and it will be given to you”
That is GIVE and you will RECEIVE
4. THE DIVINE PRINCIPLE
THE ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY TO
RECEIVE AFTER YOU HAVE GIVEN
“Give, and it will be given to you”
5. A FACT ABOUT GIVING
GIVING IS LIKE THROWING
SOMETHING IN THE AIR.
IT WILL COME BACK!!!
6. A FACT ABOUT GIVING
GIVING IS LIKE AN INVESTMENT FOR
THE GIVER
IT WILL BRING RETURNS
7. GIVING TO GOD
A GIVER TO GOD CAN NOT LOOSE.
GIVING TO GOD IS AN INVESTMENT WITH NO RISK.
Matthew 6:19-20
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust destroy and where thieves
break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor
rust destroys and where thieves do not break in
and steal.”
8. GIVING TO GOD:
A GOOD & FREE INITIATIVE
GIVING TO GOD IS A FREE AND GOOD
INITIATIVE
GIVING TO GOD FLOWS OUT OF LOVE.
NOBODY TEACHES ANYONE TO GIVE.
THE MORE A PERSON IS CONNECTED
TO GOD THE MORE HE WILL BE
MOVED TO GIVE
9. GIVING TO GOD:
A GOOD & FREE INITIATIVE
THE EXAMPLE OF CAIN AND ABEL
Genesis 4
“2 Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel.
Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller
of the ground.
3 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain
brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the
LORD.
4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of
their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his
offering”
10. GIVING TO GOD:
A GOOD & FREE INITIATIVE
THE EXAMPLE OF CAIN AND ABEL:
THEIR PERSONAL INITIATIVE
THE BIBLE DOES NOT TELL US WHO
TAUGHT THEM TO GIVE TO GOD.
11. GIVING TO GOD:
A GOOD & FREE INITIATIVE
THE EXAMPLE OF THE MACEDONIANS
3 For they gave according to their means, as I can
testify, and beyond their means, of their own
free will,
4 begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part
in the relief of the saints--
5 and this, not as we expected, but first they
gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will
of God.
12. SOMETHING DEEP ABOUT GIVING
WHY JESUS DID NOT STOP THE POOR
WIDOW FROM GIVING ALL SHE HAD?!?
41 And he sat down opposite the treasury, and
watched the multitude putting money into the
treasury. Many rich people put in large sums.
42 And a poor widow came, and put in two
copper coins, which make a penny.
44 For they all contributed out of their
abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in
everything she had, her whole living."
13. SOMETHING DEEP ABOUT GIVING
WHY JESUS DID NOT STOP THE POOR WIDOW FROM
GIVING ALL SHE HAD?!?
SHE WAS DOING THE LAST THING SHE COULD DO TO CHANGE
HER POOR CONDITION.
SHE WAS INVESTING FOR HERSELF WHAT WILL SURELY BRING
HER A REWARD.
SHE HAD UNDERSTOOD THE DIVINE PRINCIPLE OF GIVING TO
RECEIVE
SHEWAS BEING OBEDIENT AND JESUS COULD NOT STOP HER.
AFTER USING THOSE TWO COINS FOR HERSELF SHE WOULD
HAVE BEEN POORER FOREVER.
15. 1st APPLICATION OF THE PRINCIPLE:
JESUS FEEDS FIVE THOUSAND PEOPLE
15 When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a
lonely place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go
into the villages and buy food for themselves."
16 Jesus said, "They need not go away; you give them something to
eat."
17 They said to him, "We have only five loaves here and two fish."
18 And he said, "Bring them here to me."
19 Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass; and taking
the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, and blessed,
and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave
them to the crowds.
20 And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve
baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides
women and children.
16. APPLICATION OF THE PRINCIPLE:
JESUS FEEDS FIVE THOUSAND PEOPLE
WHY DID HE NOT JUST COMMAND
LOAVES OF BREAD AND FISH TO
APPEAR?
WHY DID HE ASK THEM TO GIVE HIM
WHAT THEY HAD?
HE NEEDED THEM TO GIVE HIM
SOMETHING THAT HE COULD BLESS AND
GIVE BACK THEM.
17. 2nd APPLICATION OF THE PRINCIPLE:
JESUS FEEDS FOUR THOUSAND PEOPLE
32 Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion
on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and
have nothing to eat; and I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest
they faint on the way."
33 And the disciples said to him, "Where are we to get bread enough in
the desert to feed so great a crowd?"
34 And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves have you?" They said,
"Seven, and a few small fish."
35 And commanding the crowd to sit down on the ground,
36 he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he
broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them
to the crowds.
37 And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven baskets
full of the broken pieces left over.
38 Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and
children.
18. 2nd APPLICATION OF THE PRINCIPLE:
JESUS FEEDS FOUR THOUSAND PEOPLE
THE LORD WAS COMPASSIONATE ABOUT THEM, HE WANTED
TO BLESS THEM BUT THE PRINCIPLE HAD TO BE APPLIED .
THEY HAD TO GIVE SOMETHING.
32 Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have
compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me
now three days, and have nothing to eat; and I am unwilling to
send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way."
33 And the disciples said to him, "Where are we to get bread
enough in the desert to feed so great a crowd?"
34 And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves have you?" They
said, "Seven, and a few small fish."
19. 2nd APPLICATION OF THE PRINCIPLE:
JESUS FEEDS FOUR THOUSAND PEOPLE
JESUS TOOK THEM, BLESSED THEM AND GAVE
BACK TO THEM AS USUAL.
34 And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves have you?" They
said, "Seven, and a few small fish."
35 And commanding the crowd to sit down on the ground,
36 he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given
thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the
disciples gave them to the crowds.
20. ALL THE LOVERS OF GOD GAVE HIM
ABRAHAM GAVE TO GOD
17 After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and
the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out
to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's
Valley).
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and
wine; he was priest of God Most High.
19 And he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram by
God Most High, maker of heaven and earth;
20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your
enemies into your hand!" And Abram gave him a tenth of
everything.
21. ALL THE LOVERS OF GOD GAVE HIM
ABRAHAM GAVE TO GOD
ISSAC TO GOD
JACOB GAVE TO GOD
DAVID GAVE TO GOD
Etc…
22. THE BLESSING OF GIVING
GIVING TO GOD OPENS YOU TO HIS
SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS AS WELL AS
MATERIAL BLESSINGS
23. LESSON
GIVING TO GOD AND HE WILL BLESS
YOUR GIVING AND GIVE IT BACK TO
YOU.
