competitors are? Competitive analysis
and competitive awareness are vital
aspects of internet success both from
SEO and from marketing perspectives.
Don’t    just    strive    to   outrank   your
competition; strive to have a better
conversion rate, a better opt-in rate, and
to keep the guy who’s underneath you as
far off your tail as possible! Never forget that just like you’re trying to outrank
someone, someone else is trying to outrank you.


Outrank Your Competition


Competitive analysis will help you find ways to outrank your competition. Don’t just
go for the words and phrases that your biggest competitors are trying to rank for,
though. Expand your horizons to blow those companies out of the water because
you’re not just after their organic search engine rankings — you’re after more.


Improve your Convert Rate


Part of competitive analysis isn’t just about figuring out what keywords your
competition is ranking for and what their marketing approach is, it’s also about
what you can do better in terms of attracting customers and keeping them. Even if
you’re not listed as first on the search engine results pages for targeted keyword
phrases for your industry, you could still get analysed. Most savvy shoppers look
at the first several choices in order to make an educated decision. You can stand
apart from the crowd with your web design. Designing for conversion as well as
designing for good rankings is important. Being #1 on Google isn’t all you should
aim for. It should also be about being the company people choose to buy from and
refer their friends to.

Increase Your Opt-In Rate


Getting traffic from Google and the other search engines is good. But doing
something with that traffic is even better. Only a fraction of your visitors will buy
from you today but if you’re savvy, you’ll attempt to find a way to gain permission to
contact them in the future. Convincing people to opt-in can help you increase your
chances of success.


Keep the Other Guy off Your Tail


Don’t get complacent with your success. If you do, your traffic will begin to spiral.
Don’t stop doing competitive analysis. Continue to strive to persistently reach new
levels of success in your SEO and marketing efforts.
