Case study - Wider and better testing of an Enterprise
Content Management (CMS) Platform
• Client streamlining internal
procedures and redefining
methodologies.
• Shifting development methodology
from Waterfall to Agile; adapting
testing methodology to Scrum.
• Integrated solution to meet
functional and non-functional
testing needs.
• cleverti’s challenge:
• Provide solution from nearshore
location in Portugal.
• Answer requests and increase
Client’s testing capacity.
• Overcome poor image of
nearshore teams - client had
used external testing with results
below expectations.
Challenge
• Analysis of testing needs.
• Design QA plan and define testing
team profile.
• Analysis of tools for non-functional
testing.
• Pilot with the best price / quality ratio
tool.
• September, 2010 cleverti appointed
as Nearshore Centre of Excellence
for QA & Testing.
• Responsibility for undertaking the
day-to-day testing operation.
• The Centre of Excellence has been
in full operation for 3 years.
Solution
• Number of test scenarios has grown
5 times.
• Overall number of issues in
production has widely diminished;
full control of issue severity.
• Test coverage has raised;
Development is aware of the areas
where product needs corrective
action.
• Formal testing structure imposes a
strict discipline during the entire
release cycle, allowing control on all
parts of the process.
• Rigorous metrics on the status of the
software to be released, enable
Board to fix non-conformities that
are raised during the entire cycle.
• Client is more reliant regarding the
offer for their customers.

Case study – Integrated campaign management for a
large Pharmacy Chain
• Client with platform to manage
pharmacy products needed to be
able to create and manage
campaigns associated to those
products.
• cleverti’s challenge:
• Adopt Client’s SCRUM
methodology.
• Evaluate tools to implement the
solution (.NET C#; Silverlight;
SQL Server, REST, .NET
Remoting).
• Identify the best software
architecture to provide a solution
that could manage campaigns for
over 200 pharmacies throughout
the country.
Challenge
• Development of a solution that
included a central server to
manage all campaigns for the
pharmacy chain.
• The server communicates
periodically with all pharmacies to
update active campaigns.
• Implementation of algorithms to
ensure the right combination
between different active campaigns
producing the maximized discount
for a client.
• Optimization of the algorithms to
perform calculations in less than
two seconds each time a new
product is added.
• Development of 2 interfaces to
manage campaigns:
• GUI implemented with Silverlight.
• REST for 3rd party applications.
Solution
• The solution extended the
functionality of the existing
application.
• With the centralized system, all
campaign updates are
automatically reflected through the
pharmacy chain without the need
for individual manual updates.

Case study – Testing Automation in a leading
Insurance Solution
• Client struggling to guarantee
higher quality in each release /
product version.
• cleverti’s challenge:
• Provide a solution from
nearshore location in Portugal.
• Effectively answer requests and
increase Client’s manual and
automated functional testing
capacity.
• Adopt Client’s SCRUM
methodology.
• Evaluate tools to be used within
Client’s testing needs and
technology (.NET C#; Silverlight;
RadControls).
Challenge
• Detailed analysis of Client’s
testing needs.
• Implementation of an automated
test suite to guarantee higher
application quality in each version /
release.
• Creation of a Performance Test
Environment and definition of a set
of test scenarios to evaluate
application performance.
• Implementation of metrics to
evaluate work progress.
Solution
• Increased test coverage of Client’s
product.
• Areas where only ad-hoc tests
were conducted have now more
than 700 automated test cases.
• Several new bugs and
improvements have been raised.

Portugal is not a very large country itself, but the market for Portuguese is enormous. Nearly 300 million people speak Portuguese worldwide and in Brazil, for example, the economy is growing rapidly. If Daxx in the future would decide to expand the business into Portuguese and/or Spanish speaking countries, cleverti could function as an extension of your current operation.
cleverti could translate and adapt the software, both functionally and legally. We could act as a gateway to these markets because of our knowledge of the languages as well as of local business etiquette.
A nearshore collaboration with cleverti could therefore be the start of a global expansion collectively covering about 800 million people, if that ever should become an option for Daxx. Technologies:
We work with diferente technologies, from mobile to mainframe
From open source to proprietary frameworks
Methodologies:
The methodology we use to address the development, testing and / or support of our Client’s software is based on their own methodologies.
If a Client are not familiar or don’t have a methodology defined we suggest our own according to the project needs.
Cleverti usually use agile methodologies, such as: SCRUM and Kanban. But we are familiar with others….
