CIBT’s Featured in The Province Newspaper
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CIBT Education Group Inc. (TSX:MBA, OTCQX
International: MBAIF) (the
"Company" or "CIBT") reports that it was featured on the
front page of The Province newspaper on December 8th 2014.
In the article, The Province reported that
international student Wendy
Qi "is renting a downtown condo for $2,000 a
month and finding herself
alone most of the time". When asked about
CIBT's plan to build
affordable student housing, she called the plan
an "excellent idea".
"Finding an apartment was very hard. If you
want to rent one, you have
to do it immediately. You cannot think about it
for a month," Ms. Qi
stated. "It was a little expensive but I had no
choice." The demand for
student housing in Metro Vancouver outstrips
supply. There are over
5,200 students as of December 2014 on the
University of British
Columbia's dormitory wait list; those who have accommodation are paying
12 months of rent for 9 months of use.
Informed of CIBT's service orientated apartments, Ms. Qi said the idea
is "better" than living alone in a condo. "If I can find a place like
that, I will choose that one. I am not familiar with my neighbors here.
I spend most of my time with my computer." CIBT is developing a network
of serviced rental apartments offering a variety of services such as
international student landing service, hot meals, student lounge for
after school activities, shuttle bus to and from nearby schools, private
tutoring, excursion activities for the weekends and student counseling.
These services will assure a safe, secure and convenient environment for
international students to study, relax and enjoy their stay in Canada.
"CIBT has a unique advantage," commented Toby Chu, Vice Chairman,
President and CEO of CIBT Group. "By utilizing our integrated services
of global network of schools, recruitment agreements and services, the
Company will provide a pipeline of international students to fill the
serviced apartments and Education Super Center."
