Cheerleading is a sport that involves activities like dancing, cheers, jumps and tumbling. The goal is to inspire fans to cheer for sports teams. One objective is to teach young people that cheerleading requires physical strength and dexterity. Promoting cheerleading allows developing skills like coordination, teamwork and physical dexterity. Constructivism and cognitivism pedagogical models will be used. Evaluation will consider if cheerleading is already known to young people in the country. There are different types of cheerleading like school, college, youth and professional levels.
2. CHEERLEADING
The cheerleading is a sport activity.
This discipline is not known for those
who wish to practice. The idea behind
cheerleading is to inspire viewers to cheer
for their teams during the team sports
games. Cheerleading includes such
activities as dancing, cheers, tumbling and
jumps.
3. OBJECTIVES
One of the objectives is to show and
teach the young people that
cheerleading is an activity of physical
strength and dexterity.
To provide them an opportunity to
participate in the sport of competitive
cheerleading in an adult supervised,
organized and safety-oriented manner.
4. JUSTIFICATION
Promote the cheerleading to the young
people is a commitment to one of
the most booming sports disciplines in the
world, since this allows to
develop strengths in: coordination,
teamwork and physical dexterity.
5. METHODOLOGY
The pedagogical models that will
be applied in the practice
of cheerleading are: Constructivism and
the cognitivism.
The cognitivism method no longer
relies so much on teaching but on
learning through student progress rather
than the concepts taught by Professor.
6. The cognitive model focuses on the mental
processes of the students and their ability
to move towards cognitive
abilities increasingly complex, either by
itself or with the help of an adult.
7. EVALUATION
To promote the cheerleading practice
we must consider if this discipline
has been known to the young
people, because they are the ones
who participate in this kind of sport,
in this case if this discipline is well-
known and widespread it will be a
success in our country.
8. RESOURSES
Types of Cheerleading
School-Sponsored
A school-sponsored cheerleading team is directly
affiliated with a school, either public or private, and
all of the members on the team must attend that
school. The main purpose of this type of team is to
promote school spirit and motivate fans during
sporting events.
9. College/University
College level cheerleading is technically school-
sponsored, but it is very different from cheering at
the junior high and high school levels. Not all
colleges have cheer teams, but the ones that do
only accept the cream of the crop. College
cheerleaders attend games, as well as other school
related functions, like fundraisers and community
events.
10. Youth
At the youth level, cheerleaders learn the
basics of the sport, as well as sportsmanship
and team skills.
11. Professional
Professional cheerleaders cheer for a professional
sports team (perhaps the Dallas Cowboys
Cheerleaders rings a bell). Professional cheerleading
is very competitive and making one of these teams
is no easy task. Although professional teams don’t
compete, they are always striving to be the best in
their league and/or division.
