Best part of G+ is Circles, which enables you to organize contacts, and therefore determine who sees what content. Also the least utilized and understood aspect.

Run a search on a topic that interests you from the “Search Google +” box; then save the search, which will then list it under the “What’s Hot” heading, and you can access a fresh search on those topics any time you wish, and join a conversation. After running a search, on the right hand side of the page, you will see a list of what is currently trending (like Twitter)

this is a new feature, and one that does not appeal to me, in particular. However, online gaming is huge, and this allows users to create relationships through online competition. At this point, there are 39 games to choose from.
This is still google’s sweet spotG+ is tied in heavily with searchresults on google. Top ranked people / brands for competitive terms, with G+ presence, are rewarded for that by being highlighted in the search, with an “Add to Circles” button right on the search result.
