- My idea for a great radio show is grime time. Which is a niche show for grime lovers in the UK. Grime is the most popular genre of music created in the UK and is still growing in the industry and in the hearts of the UK’s population. It would be ideal to have a radio show dedicated to just grime, the sound enlightens the mood and brings good vibes to its listeners. The show will give audience an alternative playlist then the everyday mainstream music people are forced to listened to. This is why I chose to do grime time over off the charts and also because I knew that grime time was going to be more challenging and I wanted to see if I can over come that challenge and reach my target goal of getting a show dedicated to grime on the air. The show will features minimal talk in terms of interviews and presenter to audience interaction and will focus more of its time on the music because to us the audience always comes first and what the audience wants is music. We plan to bring forward big grime stars as guest on the show such as Skepta ,chipmunk and Stormzy and more every 2 weeks as we feel this will get more people listinng. The presenter and the artist will discus topics that are grime related and will keep the interviews brief. we also focus on rising talent giving beginners the opportunity to promote their music on the radio show as a a way of giving back to the community. In terms of presenting the show we hope to be as user friendly as possible engaging with the audience as often as possible, using informal language/slang as this is more relatable to our target audience also handing out gifts to our most frequent listeners and adding features such as 20 pound questions where the presenter will ask 10 questions all grime based and if the listener answers all correct they win. The show will advertise clothing shops discounts in places such as JD, foot asylum and footlocker, jobs in the area and concert tickets for artist preforming in the UK as this is the type of stuff the target audience will be into/looking for.
- Musical genre- as the name suggest the radio show will dedicate itself to grime and nothing else. As it’s a niche show for grime lovers in the UK. We plan to play old school bangers from the past and bring it forward to the new gen of grime from the likes of AJ Tracey to Santan Dave who are the new face of grime in 2016. Target audience- as said before grime is a urban musical genre influenced by crime, guns and gangs but also talks about poverty and politics. The grime artist themselves start from a young age meaning anybody can do grime. So the audience would be 12 to 25 as the topics spoken in the music would be relatable to people of that age. Its multi gender but its more appealing to a male audience Soscio economic grouping- E teen agers in education at college or sixth form at a part time job. Frequency- we plan to have grime time broadcasted twice a week, Friday and Saturday. On Friday we would like to start at 3pm till 5pm as this is the time school finishes and kids get picked up so they’re able to tune in as soon as they finish their lessons. They are able to get home and play it their. Or listen to it on their phones on the way home. On Saturday it would be good to broadcast at 5pm to 7pm as this is the time people people go for pre drinks before the party so this is the best time to get people hyped for the night. Broadcast plans- we plan to have the stream again feature on the BBC iplayer app but its for limit of 7 days so viewers are able to have a digital copy of the show but for 7 days only this prevents them from downloading the music we play on the music illegally as our copy right policy doesn't’t allow us to distribute the music we play on the show.
