2. Primary Sources Include:
• Original artifacts, objects, videos
• Original documents, speeches, letters
• Information written when an event is happening

3. Secondary Sources Include:
• Biography (bio=life in Latin; we’ll talk about ‘graph’ later)
A biography is when you write about another person’s
life. Joseph Ellis wrote a biography on the life of George
Washington. This is a secondary document. It was
written about him after he died.

4. Secondary Sources can also
include:
• I tell you something – I am the primary source. Then, you
tell your family what I said, you are the secondary source.
• Information evaluating someone else’s research.
• Almanacs, encyclopedias, history books (textbooks), etc.
are all secondary sources because they were written
“after” the these events occurred.

Coachella Valley Cahuilla Indians
2. Using both Primary and Secondary sources, (use the links in this power point)
explain what tools the Cahuilla used in their daily life.
3.The following information must be included:
a. Six to seven slides
b. Include a title slide with group member names
c. Embed primary sourced pictures of life and tools used, add captions
underneath to explain images
d. A map either sourced or drawn showing geographical location of the
tribe. (I will help you upload and insert any drawn images)
