2. Research!
Google! – I used Google Chrome to access different websites in the research
stage of my video. It is a reliable browser which allowed me to use Blogger
(seen later in the planning process) efficiently without it crashing.
Wikipedia! – I used Wikipedia to research the indie folk genre to see what it
was about and what the conventions were. This came with links to indie folk
bands and artists so I could research specific examples for my blog and
video. Such artists included Jeff Buckley and Ben Howard and Daughter etc.
It also included artists such as Suzanne Vega who I hadn’t previously heard
of. This gave me the opportunity see the work of less known artists and
some ideas I could include in my own video.
YouTube! – YouTube was a great help in the research process of my blog. It
gave me a wide range of music videos to watch of my form and genre. It
showed me how different shots were used and their effects, and showed me
the importance of editing in time with the beat. Most importantly it allowed
me to get inspiration for my own video. I also used YouTube in the later
stages of making to show me how to use software like Adobe Final Cut Pro
so I could improve my skills outside the classroom as well as inside. I feel
this gave me an advantage and made me more confident using the
software.
3. Planning!
Blogger! – Blogger was the website I used to create my blog where I
would document all of my research, planning, production, post-
production and evaluation for my A2 Media Project. It allowed me to
order this information easily and made it accessible to me anywhere
with an internet connection. Here I can access pictures and videos of
the whole process and share it for others to view.
Windows Movie Player! – I used this application when making my
animatic for my music video, it made it easy to place my story board at
the correct timings to allow me to see how my ideas looked good and
what needed changing.
Canon! – I used my friend’s (Wes) camera to take on location with me
to visually document any locations I liked. It was also used on the
costume test days so I could upload where I was up to in the planning
process on blogger.
Dell! – Throughout the whole research, planning, and evaluative
process I used the Dell computers in the media room at college to
access my blog. It allowed me to use Microsoft Word and websites like
Prezi and GoAminate to help make my blog more interactive and media
orientated.
4. Production!
Canon! – The same canon was used to take the images for my ancillary
texts as well as filming my whole music video. The quality of these are
better than the college cameras so I believe it made my product look
more professional and of a higher quality.
LG Edit Suite! – The college edit suites was used to edit my music
video. With this I was able to access the apropriate software for editing
without the worry of the computer getting any viruses and damaging
my footage.
Adobe Photoshop! – Photoshop was used to edit the images for my
Digipak and Poster. Here I was able to change the colour and levels to
the image, change the opacity to create different effects and add text
to make my product look as professional as possible.
Adobe Premier Pro! – This software was used to edit my video. With
this I could add music, edit the shots in time with the beat, change the
colouring and effects and add text to make the video look like a real
media product.
5. Evaluation!
PowerPoint! – I have used PowerPoint to answer this question
of my evaluation. I also used it to produce graphs and charts
for my audience research and feed back.
Microsoft Word! – I used Microsoft Word to type out all of my
evaluation before putting it on Blogger. This was useful
because I could use spell check to make sure all my work was
spelt right and looked professional.
Slide Share! – I used Slide Share to make this evaluation
question. It helped me to use different media texts in my
evaluation to show the diversity of media.
GoAnimate! – I used GoAnimate to answer the audience
feedback evaluation question and use more media texts. It
made my evaluation more interesting and engaging.
YouTube! – After putting my video on YouTube, I can use clips
to put on blogger in my evaluation.
