Stories
* Parma identified by looking at the wall that there is no mention of hiring CMS specialist. Later it was identified that the requirement was communicated but somehow got missed out

* We are passionate about XP
* Started doing it right from the first project in 2002
* And we have loved the results
*Delivered a variety of projects
varied domains
varied sizes ranging from 2 till almost 200 people on one project

Quote(s) needed
* Agile teams work on dining tables
* Whole team (ie. the devs, qas, bas the PM and the customer .. everyone) the sits closeby on one table, makes communication very easy and natural
* We have extened that idea to all the other teams as well, so the recruitment team has its own table and so does the Admin team, IS team and so on.
* It improves communication in each of these teams just like in software teams
* We have extened that idea to all the other teams as well, so the recruitment team has its own table and so does the Admin team.
* It improves communication in each of these teams just like in software teams
* Infact all the other teams like the training team, finance team, Infrastructure team have their own tables just like these.
* There are no walls or partitions between different teams
* Increases the number of interactions between people from different teams..and that the same positive effects as increased interactions between roles in different teams
* For example when a recruiter talks to a developer more often
* the recruiter for example is more aware of the situation of the projects and thus can make better informed choice about involving members of that team for interviews
* The developer on the other hand understands the constraints of the recruitment team and is more likely to volunteer his time for interviews when needed
* Thats a picture of our pune office, as you can see its basically a large hall with multiple dining tables
* And we love it that way
* Like all the extra open space allows people to go crazy sometimes and perform biking stunts in the office.
as u might know, india is a cricket crazy country..
so at times we play cricket in the office as well
so if not for anything else, it is for playing cricket that we really really like our open office
* like this one which tracks the progress of each candidate at a recruitment event

* Helps the resource management team get a complete picture
* It provides visibility into the decisions that they are making
* As a Developer, I would know which project I am likely to be on and who else is going to join me there. We can catch up and exchange notes, discuss what prep work we could start on etc.
* The guys in our Sydney ofice actually put up small pictures of each of the people in the team and that makes the wall look even more cool
But I am sure one constant nightmare that the staffing team has is to go home and come back to see this.
to see that all the devs have decided to be on the cool new ruby project !
Training team’s continuous retrospective
* People put up stickies on the relevant section as soon as some event occurs. Participants loved the use of mindmaps in my session.. stick a post it. People found the relationship diagram too detailed.. stick a post it.
* They meet around the learning matrix once every week and discuss the points
* Helps all members of the training team learn from each other

* They started adopting novel ways of reminding people
* They sent out interesting mailers out like the one on the screen
* Created posters and stuck them up on the wall
* Many a times they got into their charters and actually did some quick rounds of the office.
All this was enough to engage people and people started proactively filling their timesheets at the right time

Since then a lot of work has been put in by ThoughtWorkers on the Studios team in the last couple of years
and those are some of the products that are already in the market and are doing reasonable well
* So he toured all the 6 countries where ThoughtWorks has an office and in each of the office conducted an exercise
* He asked people in the office to create random groups of 6-8 people, and then asked each of the groups to collaborate amongst themselves and provide three point answers to a couple of questions
* We have had a dev who has been part of the recruitment team for some months, before picking up PM responsibilities
* We have someone who started off as a Business Ananlyst, then became a project manager, then led the operations of our Pune office and currently is managing an Internal systems initiative
Good for people

At the end I would like to say that the last 4 years with TW have been a wonderful experience for me with many fun filled memories .. like this one from our last away day.
I think the fact that most people in tw over the years have internalized the agile values in their behavior make our culture as much fun as it is
If you have liked what you have seen in this brief glimpse into our culture then i would encourage you to spread the agile germ in your organization as well and i wish you good results with it
