DR. RODOLFO S. CORNEJO
• 1.)The only Filipino composer with two
doctoral degrees in music.
-Doctor in Philosophy Major
Composition.
-Doctor of Music degree
Noted for his extraordinary ability to do
impromptu classical improvisation.
• He was born on May 15, 1909 in Singalong, Manila.
• When he turned 6, his mother Crisanta Soldevilla, felt he was
already ready to have piano lessons.
• At the age of 8, he became the organist at the Pasay Catholic
Church.
• He wrote his first composition at the age of 10 entitled
“Glissandro Waltz”
Dr.Cornejo’s Family
• He was mentored by Francisco Santiago and Nicanor
Abelardo at University of the Philippines.
• At the age of 16, he had 26 of his compositions published by
the United Publishing Company, Inc.
• In 1950, he graduated in University of the Philippines and was
offered a teaching position.
• 1939- he went back on US to pursue his second degree.

• He was able to compose 300 vocals and
instrumental combined.

He studied at Pasig Catholic School
during his Elementary years and
spent his high school years in the San
Jose Seminary where he sung in a
choir.

JOSEFINO “CHINO” TOLEDO
Chino hails from a very
musical clan.
His father was the founder
of the famous Pangkat
Kawayan.
4.) He took his formal
music lessons at the Laperal
Music Academy.
• He finished his Bachelor’s Degree in music major in
compositions from the University of the Philippines.
• His skills were honed by masters of music Lucio San Pedro,
Eliseo Pajaro and Ramon Santos.
• He became professor at UP College of Music and at UST
Conservatory of Music
• He also taught Theory and Composition at Sto. Tomas
Conservatory of Music.
• Some of his compositions are “Tatluhan”, “Aliw-iw” and Taghoy ng
Kalikasan”.
• He receive his first reward at the age of 16 in the Ateneo de davao Hymn
contest.
• He also a four-time winner in CCP’s Young composers Contest.
• He also served as musical director and conductor in several productions
of the CCP such as “Lagi kitang Naaalala”, “Pinoy ako” and “Bayan,
Bayani, Bayanihan”

  • 2. DR. RODOLFO S. CORNEJO • 1.)The only Filipino composer with two doctoral degrees in music. -Doctor in Philosophy Major Composition. -Doctor of Music degree Noted for his extraordinary ability to do impromptu classical improvisation.
  • 3. • He was born on May 15, 1909 in Singalong, Manila. • When he turned 6, his mother Crisanta Soldevilla, felt he was already ready to have piano lessons. • At the age of 8, he became the organist at the Pasay Catholic Church. • He wrote his first composition at the age of 10 entitled “Glissandro Waltz”
  • 5. • He was mentored by Francisco Santiago and Nicanor Abelardo at University of the Philippines.
  • 6. • At the age of 16, he had 26 of his compositions published by the United Publishing Company, Inc. • In 1950, he graduated in University of the Philippines and was offered a teaching position. • 1939- he went back on US to pursue his second degree. • Nieves Guerero- his wife

  • 8. DR. RAMON P. SANTOS He studied at Pasig Catholic School during his Elementary years and spent his high school years in the San Jose Seminary where he sung in a choir. Bachelor in Music major in Composition and conducting.
  • 9. • Masters degree – Indiana University • Doctorate Degree- State University of New York • 2.)He became asst professor in composition at UP College of Music. • He also conducted the Ateneo de Manila University Glee Club.

  • 17. JOSEFINO “CHINO” TOLEDO Chino hails from a very musical clan. His father was the founder of the famous Pangkat Kawayan. 4.) He took his formal music lessons at the Laperal Music Academy.
  • 18. • He finished his Bachelor’s Degree in music major in compositions from the University of the Philippines. • His skills were honed by masters of music Lucio San Pedro, Eliseo Pajaro and Ramon Santos. • He became professor at UP College of Music and at UST Conservatory of Music • He also taught Theory and Composition at Sto.   • 21. • Son of Celerina and Alberto Cayabyab • Husband of Emmy Punsalan • Father of Cristina Maria and Antonio Maria Cayabyab • • He took B.A at University of the Philippines. • He worked as an accompanist for the DBP chorale and discovered by Sen.Laurel. • Became scholar • UP College of Music.
