2. A 3mm wax spacer is
applied to the model.
A tray is then made
over it. When the wax
is boiled away, the
space permits an even
thickness of alginate
impression material
inside the tray.
4. Draw a clear pencil line around the
depth of the sulcus. Allow movement
of the frena
Apply a SINGLE wax spacer accurately
over the model. Adapt TIGHTLY
5. Apply a SECOND sheet and cut back to
the line
Cut tray stops into the wax as shown
here
6. Before adding the sheet of tray
material, fill the tray stop holes with
some off-cuts of tray material
7. Adapt a sheet of tray material to
cover the wax. AVOID THINNING AT
THE PERIPHERY
8.
9. Cure for 5 minutes then place in the
boiling out machine to remove the
wax. Remove tray and flush with hot
water
The tray stops can now be seen
clearly here
10. Draw a pencil line along the tray at
the same angle as the frena.
Trim away a rounded notch to allow
space around it.
11. Draw dots 8mm apart and no closer
than 5mm to the periphery
Donât cover the occlusal
surface to allow
compression of the
material over the teeth
Keep your fingers OUT of the tray when cutting perforations.
You REALLY donât want a TC bur going through your nail at 15,000rpm
12. Rest your work on the
bench page when cutting
perforations and during
trimming
13. Round the periphery over.
FEEL if it is sharp!
