9. Why you chose investigation title: I have seen "Persepolis" before and it made me intrigued in Iranian cinemaâ. New stories about the repression of their women really frightened me, something i felt i needed to look in to. Also post 1990's i wanted to see that now their is such a judgmental outlook on the middle eastern culture due to terror risks and revolutions. How the modern day Iranian woman lives. The programme "The Promise" on channel 4 last year really led my interest in Middle Eastern cinema, as it follows a young girl tracking back through her grandfathers time in the as in Israel.
10. How your investigation is taking place: Well I am really just interested in choosing films that show a broad range of Iranian womenâs lifestyles in each film I finalize. I have found it in the three films "Persepolis", "The Circle" and "Ten". Ranging in age groups and class I think I can answer my question with the birth of knowledge and outlook these films give out. I am also keen to read up on books on Iranian womenâs repression and news stories I have already started with looking online and shocked to see executions were vividly present online of Iranian women and teenagers.
