2. • Do you have ugly old kitchen cabinets? But don’t
want to spend
thousands of dollars to replace them? Freshen
them up with a coat of paint and
some new hardware!
3. • We love painting kitchen cabinets! Because the
final result is always
dramatic, and improves the look of a room much
more than painting the walls and
trim ever could.
4. • Even the worst looking cabinets have a chance at
a new life and it’s
not as difficult, expensive or time intensive as
many people
think.
5. • Painting cabinets is much easier to do than
refinishing them. Properly
refinishing wooden cabinets is a very time
intensive and strenuous task. Mainly
because the previous finish coats have to be
stripped off before a new finish
can be applied
6.
7. • When painting your cabinets, it is not necessary
to remove the
previous finish. All you need to do is give them a
good wash, followed by
sanding with a fine grit sandpaper.
8. • Using a good quality primer is the important
thing to remember, because
many cabinets will have been painted or finished
with an oil product. Latex
paint does not stick to oil. So we recommend
using a good quality bonding
primer.
9. • Applying a coat of primer will ensure that your
finish coat of paint
will adhere and not scratch or rub off. It will also
give the top coat a
smoother appearance.
10. • We recommend using a high quality self leveling
trim paint. Our
favourite is Sherwin Williams – Pro Classic. It self
levels beautifully giving
an almost perfectly smooth finish even when
brushed on. 2
coats are almost always sufficient to achieve
perfect coverage.
11. • After you have painted your new cabinets you
will find great
satisfaction in selecting some new handles and
knobs to add the finishing touch
to your hard work.

refinishing your kitchen
cabinets, our Toronto and Mississauga cabinet
refinishing experts would be more
