2. 4 changes to WSH regulations in 2014
1. Changes to Workplace Safety & Health Incident Reporting
Requirements (6 January 2014)
2. Changes to the Workplace Safety & Health (Work-At-Height) Act
(1 May 2014)
3. Changes in validity period of Occupational First Aid (OFA)
(1 November 2014)
4. Cancellation of Accredited Training Providers (ATPs) status of 4
Companies (11 December 2014)
3. 1. Changes to Workplace Safety & Health
Incident Reporting Requirements
Change 1: Employers now have to report all accidents which render
their employees unfit for work for more than three days, regardless of
whether these were consecutive days.
Change 2: Employers will have to report all work-related traffic
accidents that their employees are involved in.
4. 2. Changes to the Workplace Safety &
Health (Work-At-Height) Act
Change 1: Permits to Work (PTWs) were applicable to all workplaces
where work is to be carried out above a height of 3 meters. Under the
new amendments, this requirement applies to workplaces defined as
"Factories".
For all other workplaces, PTWs will not be required if proper
precautions are in place to mitigate risks, unless the employer or
principal deems it necessary.
5. 2. Changes to the Workplace Safety &
Health (Work-At-Height) Act (cont.)
Change 2: To the relief of many SMEs, the requirement for the WAH
Assessor and WAH Manager to be separate persons has been removed.
They can now be the same person, however, the person must have
attended the relevant training and experience.
Do note that MOM still advises for the 2 persons to be separate where
possible.
6. 3. Changes in validity period of
Occupational First Aid (OFA)
Currently, the validity of OFA is 3 years while the CPR AED certification
is valid for 2 years.
To align the validity of the two, the OFA is now valid for 2 years.
Certificates that are still valid will be recognised until expiry.
7. 4. Cancellation of ATP status of 4
Companies
4 Accredited Training Providers (ATPs) had their status cancelled for
violating the Terms and Conditions for ATPs and have been ordered to
cease all WSH training.
• The 4 companies involved are:
• Safety Council Pte Ltd
• Safety Academy Pte Ltd
• Foster Asia Pacific Pte Ltd
• Global Tech Training Solutions Pte Ltd.
