Media communication
1. Medial Communication
• Social Media is a group of internet based
applications that are build on ideological and
technological foundations.
• They allow the creation and exchange of user
generated content.
• this depends upon mobile and web based
technologies to create highly interactive
platform.
2. Social media communication takes two
forms:-
• First is company to
consumer in which
company may establish a
connection to a consumer
based on its location and
provide reviews about a
location nearby.
• The second is user
generated content: for eg.
Mc Donalds offers $5 $10
gift cards to 100 users
randomly checking in
their one of the
restaurants..
This promotion will
increase check inns by 33%
resulted in over 50 articles
and blog posts , and
promoted several news
feeds and twitter messages.
3. Social media and interpersonal
communication
• Social media certainly affects how we engage
with one another across all venues and ages.
• There has been a shift in the way of
communication rather than face to face
interaction we are tending to prefer mediated
communication.
• We’d rather mail than meet ; we’d rather text
than talk on phone.
4. Cont…
• Our interactions on social media are becoming
weak ties: that is we don’t feel as personally
connected as with the other ways of
communication.
• So when we are communicating more.. We
may not be building stronger relationship.
• We can find information overload and many
people cannot handle them.
5. Criticism's
• Lack Of privacy
• Disparity
• Technology Addiction
• Ownership of content
• Reliability
• Trustworthiness
6. Positives
• People get to learn and explore things
• It is used to document memories
• It is used to advertise
It is an opportunity to reach wider audiences.
7. Future Prospects
• They will continue to increase the volume of the
human communication process, and we will continue
to learn how to use them for good and for bad.
• We must remember that social media is really only a
decade old. That’s very young in the history of
communication technology. It’s been influential, but it
hasn’t really settled into a routine yet. As a society
we’ll be OK—we’ve always adjusted to new technology.
So whether it’s wearable communication media, such
as Google glasses, or more cloud computing, we’ll
change and adapt.”
