• Includes both magazines and journals.
• Find something on nearly any topic.
• Often provides full text.
• Use for getting started or when you only need a
couple of articles.

• Includes only professional journals of a specific
academic discipline.
• Provides citations and abstracts – can provide full
text.
• Use when you want to explore professional and
scholarly (peer-reviewed) literature on a subject.
• Examples: Business Source Elite, PsycINFO,
CINAHL Plus w/Full Text, and GenderWatch

3. Other Types
• There are other databases that include
specific media formats such as streaming
videos, eBooks, or newspaper articles.
• Examples: Counseling and Therapy in Video,
eBooks on EBSCOhost, and Opposing
