10. Lessons Learnt
• Climate Change is a complex issue to understand – there is scanty
information especially with regards to attribution
• Collaboration with different experts in the field on climate change so
as to be able to overlay our household data with climate data-
modelling
• There are various initiatives being undertaken in the Climate Change
and they may require well coordinated efforts to harmonize in order
to harness synergies
9
11. Emerging Opportunities for Collaboration
• Results from the research work will informs partner such as FSD
on packages on weather insurance as there is little or no
information at the household level
• Interaction with institutions such as ICPAC/KMD/UON for
training
• Tapping into the opportunities on CENA networks to exchange
ideas
• Synergies amongst the grantees on the network given our
different strengths to exchange ideas on climate issues and their
impact on households and other sectors
• Opportunity to collaborate with other grantees in the climate
change project
• Opportunity to participate in different foras, committees at
national (PM office/MOA and MENR) and regional level for
policy advocacy 10
12. Next steps
• Exploring different models of working with different expertise in
building capacity for the Institute
• Scheduling for training of the Institute staff
• Getting climate data and undertaking analysis to produce a working
paper and policy brief from the work
• Organization of focus group discussions
• Participate in various policy and advocacy fora on climate change at
the national and regional level
• Incorporate (climate proofing) climate change in all of the Institute
research activities
