2. Welcome to Class I am excited that you decided to take this course this semester. This presentation serves to answer some of the questions students might have about the course. It is often difficult to develop relationships with students at a distance but I hope to use technology to bridge the gap. In the future you will receive other slide shows that about course lectures or materials. If I add video to these presentations I will try to make the files as small as possible so you do not have trouble gaining access to the information. Please email me at cdjames2@uncg.edu. I try to answer questions as quickly as a I can. I should answer you within 24 hours.
3. Dr. James My name is Dr. James and I have been teaching at UNCG for almost 15 years. My office is located on campus at 361 Bryan Building. I come to campus on Monday and Wednesday. You can always stop by to see me. However if you want to ensure that I am in my office to meet with you please make an appointment.
4. Communicate with me! Most of you will communicate with me electronically or by phone. The best way to reach me is my email. Please put your course BUS/ENT 240-02 and your name in the subject line of the email. We can also Google chat through your UNCG email account. We can talk by phone if you want to hear my voice and be able to get reflective feedback. I am not as good at answering the phone in my office. If you want to talk by phone please email me your phone number and I will call you. I use Twitter for all my courses and when I need to get messages to all my students I will send through Tweets. Please follow me on Twitter. I am DrJamesUNCG on Twitter. If you do not follow me you might miss information.
5. Course Design This course is designed in 2 week modules. This means that you have two weeks to complete all the activities in the module. There are seven modules and you can see them on the syllabus. During each 2 week module you will: Read through the module Complete readings assigned on the syllabus Complete a blog for the module On the last 3 days that a module is available you will complete a quiz or an activity that is due. There will always be either a quiz or an activity. You should completely go through the content in the module before you try to take the module quiz or complete the module activity, which ever is assigned. The quiz or the activity will test what you learned in the module. Your modules will appear in the Learning Area of Blackboard. The modules will contain written or video taped lectures, web links and readings. Your readings will appear in the course documents area of Blackboard for the most part. However there are some that I am not able to put in Blackboard. In that case you will be directed to UNCG Library Journal Finder to get to the articles. I will explain in another slideshow how to use the Journal Finder.
6. Notes for Blogs Blogs are worth 21 points of your grade. There are 7 blogs and you can earn up to 3 points on each blog. You are expected to write 2 paragraphs for each blog. You are to write independently for your blogs. Do not use the work of others. The question to consider for the blog is written within the module. Do not contact me to ask for the blog question. I would like you to read through the module and find the question as a part of your work. The Blogs will be submitted in Blackboard through the communications section under Blogs. Blogs must be submitted by 11:59pm on the last Sunday of the module. When I grade the blogs I give the following considerations:
7. Notes for Quizzes or Activities You will have 7 quizzes or activities that will help to ensure that you are learning course concepts. Some modules you will have a multiple choice quiz and on other modules you will have an activity to submit. Pay attention to the directions to make sure you are submitting your work correctly. This quizzes and activities should be done independently. You will not be able to submit your work late so make sure by the end of the module you have completed your assignment. Quizzes and activities should be submitted in the assignments area of Blackboard. Quiz questions will be taken from the online lecture and maybe for comprehension or application.

You will receive more information on the pitch. The course is designed to that as you go through the modules you will receive information to help you with this project. If you plan to work with another member of the class on this pitch you must let Dr James know by the end of the September.
