3. I’ll never forget the day even if I wanted to. It was your birthday and you were
taking ME out to dinner. It just didn’t seem right, but you insisted. I was excited,
nervous, and even a little scared. I wasn’t ready to jump in yet, but I knew I should
trust you and I knew you wouldn’t let me fall. So I took the chance. I still
remember being so critical about my outfit and making sure everything was
perfect. You called me for directions to my house and I had my mom give you
directions because I was so giddy and my sister and I were so excited. When you
pulled into my driveway EARLY, I was more than impressed. You didn’t know, but
being late is one of my biggest pet peeves. Once you met my parents, we headed
to dinner. Of course, it was a beautiful day on the island. We had incredible food
and laughed and had a fantastic time. After dinner, we picked up your brother and
my sister and we went out to a club to celebrate your birthday. We danced and it
was like we had known each other forever. When it was time to leave, you drove
my sister and I back to our house. I was nervous the whole drive back. I wondered
if you had as good of a time as I did. I wondered if I said anything dumb. I
wondered if you had crazy uncontrollable butterflies in your stomach like I did.
When you pulled into my driveway for the second time that day, I wondered what
would happen next. You got out of your car to say goodbye to me and I still
remember how excited I was to hug you first the first time and I’ll never forget
how my heart skipped a beat when you gave me the sweetest little kiss. It’s safe to
say I went to bed happy that night. It was June 20, 2010, your 20th birthday, our
first date, the beginning of the best summer of my life, and the start of an
incredible romance.

15. Why a long distance relationship is beneficial in a relationship
Don’t get me wrong, being in the same state or city as your significant other is great.
Personally, I wouldn’t know how it works for more than three months at a time, but I
can’t wait for the day I finally get to try it out for forever. With the exception of a few
months here and there, the closet we have been was three hours apart and the farthest
was when I was in Germany and he was in America. You might say I am crazy for what
I’m about to say, but I believe whole-heartedly that having a long-distance relationship
has been a huge factor in our incredible relationship. And I would argue that every
couple should at some point have some type of long distance relationship. Why? I’ll tell
you. Simply put, it makes your love stronger. It makes you appreciate your loved one
even more than you could if you never knew what it was like to have them gone. It
requires a heck of a lot of communication and I don’t think anybody can argue that
communication isn’t key in any relationship. Long-distance relationships involve a
couple to work together and come to compromises. Who is going to visit who? Are we
even going to have time to see each other a certain weekend? Long distance
relationships are no doubt hard work, and after three and a half years, we have selfproclaimed ourselves experts at it. I won’t sit here and tell you to meet the love of your
life and then split ways for close to four years, but I will tell you with absolute certainty
that a couple who has been in a long-distance relationship for some point of time has a
stronger relationship They have worked hard for what they wanted and never gave up
when they went too long without their loved one. Those people know that it’s never a
goodbye, but always a see you later and those people know the reunion is always worth
the wait when they finally get to see them again. Thank you, Jordan Grimes, for always
giving me something to look forward to and for never giving up on our long-distance
relationship.
