2. Previous Research
• From reading about the ‘Drum & Bass Arena Award Winners of 2015’, I
found the current top artists of this genre, and then did further research into
their most recent album covers. This then helped me to come up with
potential ideas for our album cover that would be typical of the genre, as
well as expected by the audience. This is important as, if it was going to be
sold in shops, then people that listen to Drum & Bass music can know what
to look for. From my research I found:
3.
4. CD Cover Design No. 1
As both the
Rudimental and
Netsky album
cover include
the artists, I
thought getting
a picture of
Izzy would be
appropriate.
However, in all
album covers, the
artist is not the
main focus. What
comes across as
most important is
the titling, which
is why I chose to
place it across her
face, to make her
appear almost
anonymous.I chose to put the font in yellow as the colour
of the titling in the video is also yellow.

6. CD Design Cover No.2
I chose to do this title
in blue as it goes with
the yellow nicely. I chose to
make the
background
colour red, as
it contrasts
nicely with
yellow, making
it stand out
more.
Reflecting the image
was just something I
randomly thought
I’d try, but liked the
outcome so decided
to use it.

8. CD Design Cover No.3
I liked the titling
of the previous
cover, so decided
to keep it for this
design. I feel the
use of colours
make the titling
stand out more.
As I tried to make
her appear
‘anonymous’, I
decided to place
the title over eyes,
but make it faint
so that she can
still be seen.
9. Audience Feedback
• I asked multiple people’s opinions of these designs and the most common responses were:
• No. 1 was liked but least effective.
• No. 2 was most popular as people’s favorite.
• No. 3 was most interesting, however people didn’t like the fact the titling could almost not
be read.
• This was beneficial as it allowed me to see what was and wasn’t liked and where I could
improve. For example I now know that, to improve the third one, I could increase the
opacity enough that it can be read, however not enough that it is not fully visible, as it makes
it more appealing and interesting visually.
