29. Conclusiones
IMPROVE-IT: Primer estudio que demuestra un beneficio
clínico adicional de un fármaco hipolipemiante diferente
(ezetimiba) asociado a una estatina:
SÍ: Non-statin lowering LDL-C with ezetimibe
reduces cardiovascular events
SÍ: Cuanto más bajo, aún mejor
(Media C-LDL-alcanzado a 1 año 53 vs. 70 mg/dL)
SÍ: Confirma la seguirida de ezetimiba
Ratifica la hipótesis lipídica (LDL), la reducción de
colesterol LDL reduce lac complicaciones cardiovasculares
Los resultados deberán tenerse en cuenta para futuras
guías de tratamiento

31. Conclusión
• El colesterol LDL es la diana terapéutica
clave en prevención cardiovascular
• Los beneficios clínicos se extienden al
menos hasta niveles entorno a 55 mg/dl
• Los efectos protectores con estatinas y
con inhibidores de la absorción son
similares para reducciones de colesterol
equivalentes
