3. EL CANAL DE CHINA O CANAL DEL EMPERADOR
El Gran Canal de China, de 1776 km, conocido
también como Gran Canal Pekín-Hangzhou, fue
construido desde el 581 al 618 para el
transporte de grano . Actualmente está dividido
en siete subcanales; unos se utilizan para el
tráfico de materiales (entre los que se incluye el
carbón) y otros para el servicio de aguas negras.
The Grand Canal of China, 1776 km, also known
as Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, was built
from 581 to 618 for the transport of grain.

noviembre de 1869 tras diez

21. CANAL DE KIEL (ALEMANIA)
Une el Mar Báltico con el Mar del Norte en
Alemania. El canal se construyó a petición del
káiser Guillermo I en el año 1887 y en su
elaboración participaron alrededor de 9.000
hombres. La inauguración se realizó en el año
1895. Por causa de las Guerras Mundiales se
cerró en varias ocasiones. Tiene 98,6 km de
longitud y mide 41 m. de ancho y 14 de
profundidad.
It connects the Baltic Sea with the North Sea in
Germany. The canal was built at the request of
Kaiser Wilhelm I in 1887 and around 9,000 men
participated in its development. The inauguration
was held in 1895. Because of the World Wars was
closed several times. It has 98.6 km in length and
is 41 m. wide and 14 m deep.

27. CANAL LENIN VOLGA – DON (RUSIA)
Conecta los puntos más próximos de los ríos Volga y Don. La longitud de este es de 101 Km. Este canal
favorece el paso de barcos mercantes que proceden del mar Caspio por medio del río Volga al
Don, desembocando en el mar de Azov y a su vez accede al mar Negro y al Mediterráneo.
It connects the nearest points to the Volga and Don rivers. This canal of 101 Km favors the passage of
merchant ships coming from the Caspian Sea through the Volga to the Don River, flowing into the Sea

31. CANAL DE SAIMAA (FINLANDIA-RUSIA).
El Canal de Saimaa conecta las aguas del lago
de Saimaa desde Lappeenranta hasta el Golfo
de Finlandia, via Vyborg en Rusia. Su longitud
total es de 43 Km. El canal tiene ocho
esclusas, siete puentes levadizosy otros seis
puentes para cruzar el canal.
The Saimaa Canal connects the Saimaa water
area Saimaa Lakeland from Lappeenranta to
the Gulf of Finland via Vyborg in Russia. Its
total length is 43km.The canal has eight
locks, and there are seven draw bridges and
six
other bridges crossing the canal.

35. CANAL BÁLTICO-MAR BLANCO (RUSIA)
Conocido también como Canal de
Stalin o Belomorkanal. Construido por
prisioneros del Gulag, costó la vida de
más de diez mil personas. El Canal
enlaza el lago Onega y el Vygózeno con
el río Neva y el lago Ladoga. Tiene 227
km y escasa profundidad, por lo que
no es muy interesante para el
comercio.
Also known as Stalin or Belomorkanal.
Built by prisoners of the Gulag, cost
the lives of more than ten thousand
people. The Canal connects Lake
Onega and Vygózeno with the Neva
River and Lake Ladoga. It has 227 km
and it’s not deep, so it is not very
interesting for trade.

su agua.
