Why Capgemini chose VMC for the Hybrid solution Most of our migration/modernisation’s have a similar constraint, customers want to move to cloud but they need to do it quickly. The best model to address this is 2 step  1st move everything to private cloud for technology continuity (VMware to VMware) minimal transformation, cheap migration (Using HCX included with VMC)  2nd step transformation. Migrate easy public candidates, which need little change. Then refactor, re-architect etc to move remaining systems  The best option for the 1st step, due to full VMware stack, is HCX. This provides easy migration integration and as moving the workloads to VMC there is no tooling costs.  We can leverage stretch VLAN’s through NSX and this allows us to mitigate the single biggest challenge we see when migrating our customers, which is changing IP addresses.

Key areas which are simplified – Driving operational savings Bringing all these areas into VMC not only enables reduction in CAPEX refresh costs but also in the OPEX costs of support. It provides the ability to consolidate the Vertical support towers in to multi-skilled horizontal resources which allows for a reduced support cost and the ability to leverage automation effectively through the use of standard platforms With more and more customers moving to a hybrid model, latency becomes the next challenge. If the web front end is AWS can you really have the application on premise? Page load times are seen as a critical KPI to the business. So infrastructure has to reduce latency as much as possible. By moving in to VMC on AWS latency ceases to be a problem as the Private cloud is now located in the same DC as AWS. How we can address decreasing workload  By modelling the purchase costs of on demand, 1 year and 3 year instances we can adapt to migrations in a cost effective manner.  Another of the challenges in the modern Data center is how do I migrate to refreshed hardware and migrate to the cloud without buying unnecessary assets.  In this manner we can absorb the migration bubble by only adding the resource needed to exit the old platform whilst allowing the business to transform to native cloud.  Commit is only used for workload which will remain post transformation Resource Time Cost Avoided Cost Avoided
