What have you learn about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
Callum fitzgerald 7066
Equipment and technology's used:
Filming
• Canon DSLR 650D E0S
• Camera Lens
• Lighting
• microphone
Camera DSLR 650D EOS
• Strenghths
• On the camera the ability to set the focus manually allowed us to get
much clear shots and adjust the white balance, exposure etc to suit
our opening
• The Cannon DSLR had easily accessible settings and menus which were
easy to work, therefore it allowed a better quality of image with very
little work
• The camera is relatively small therefore it was convenient to carry
around as we moved locations
• Weakness
• The battery life was very short only lasted about 2-3 hours which put us
under time pressure
Camera lens
• Strengths
• The camera lens allowed us to create shots with greater detail due
to the zoom and focus options
• Weakness
• Despite our efforts to focus the lens as much as possible, some od
the shots were sill slightly blurry as the lens couldn’t focus any
more
Lighting
• Strengths
• The lighting worked very well as it brought out the our actors and
created a very dim but sharp atmosphere
• the small lights was benifical as they created a good about of light
and wasn’t too bright
• Weakness
• It brought out many shadows which became a problem during
editing
Microphone
• Strength
• It allowed us to get clear dialogue during our investigation scene
and it came out at a much better quality
• Weakness
• As well as improving the dialogue it also enhanced the back ground
noise which became a problem during editing as you couldn’t
here the convostaion
How we over came problems
• A main problem was the interrogation scene was to dark and you
couldn’t really see the actors so to over come this we decided to
get another light and it improved the image loads
• Another problem was the scene out side because the mic was
picking up the back ground sound so we decided to move the
camera closer to the actors and to judge the right time to record

What we learnt about filming technologies
• We learnt how to create a good detailed shot in a dark area
through the use of the light and the different settings on the
camera
• We also learnt how to focus a shot better using the camera lens
which came in handy as it made our how opening a lot shaper
• In-addition we learnt how a microphone could be used to increase
the sharpness of the sound and to improve the dialogue

• Strengths
• The iMac has auto save which means that all our work wasn’t lost
when the computer crashed.
• I found the software very easy to use and therefore allowed us to
produce our work more successfully
• Weakness
• The macs only save to the one mac rather than being able to
access across all the macs so if someone else was on your
computer you couldn’t do any work
Finalcut pro
• Strengths
• It allowed us to edit our opening and to be able to add in diferent
effects on the clips and to put in things like background music
• As well as this is allowed us to make our film to run a lot smoother
making it look a lot more like a film opening
• Weakness
• You was unable to access your work without a mac
photoshop
• Strengths
• Allowed us to create our distribution and production logos
• weakness
• It was quite difficult to use
How we over came problems
• With the problem with the macs we made sure we had access to
the computer by leaving signs and asking the teachers to hold
the computer for us
• Allowed us to over come the background noise which made the
dialogue clearer.
• We had originally created a title using a found image but we over
came this by creating one using photoshop
What we learnt about editing technologies
• A key thing that my group learnt was how to use the effects to
make different scenes look different for example the cctv scene
was created by using a effect and text
• Another one was how to add music to the background which gave
our thriller a more tense atmosphere
• Finally we learnt how to create images by learning to use
photoshop
Documenting tools used:
• YouTube
• Blogger
• Prezi

• Was very easy to access as well as allowing us to upload our videos
to upload to blogger

• The servers may crash meaning it was difficult to get on it

What we learnt about documenting
technologies
• As a group we were able to detail and document all of our pre-
production and research in several different formats. We also
discovered how to use lables and tag our posts
• As well as this we was able to document all of our post-production
and are actual production stage.
