Calit2 is a research partnership between UC San Diego and UC Irvine that brings together 220 faculty and researchers. It receives funding from the state, industry, and private sources totaling $400-500 million. Calit2 conducts interdisciplinary research in areas like materials and devices, networked infrastructure, and intelligent transportation. It is interested in international partnerships because science is increasingly global and its industrial partners operate globally. Calit2 aims to extend its collaborative research model internationally and take advantage of unique research opportunities through global partnerships.
