Winter holidays are celebrated differently around Greece. Many Greek Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas on January 7th instead of December 25th. Epiphany on January 6th marks the end of the traditional 12-day Christmas season and involves the blessing of homes and the throwing of a crucifix into bodies of water for young men to retrieve.
