My presentation on reading the book Not without My Daughter

1. Not Without My Daughter My Project For this project I decided to read the Book Not Without my Daughter. I love to read and decided this was the best decision for me to complete this project.

2. A good book to read A real life story of a Mother and Her daughter trying to escape from Iran

3. Thought they were going on a vacation Betty and Mahtob thought they were only going for a 2 week vacation leaving their home in Michigan. Greeted by family members and presented with gifts although while there Betty had a tough time adjusting and waited for the day she was to return to America.

4. Clothing women were required to wear Betty and Mahtob realized they were not going back to America anytime soon. But life was going to get worse for Betty because her husband would start beating her extensively on a daily basis. Betty was concerned for the 2 boys she had from a previous marriage along with her ill father Was she going to see them again? Mahtob was made to attend an Iranian school where her mom was able to have some freedom.

5. Plans To Escape Betty had people helping her to escape but no one was willing to take her daughter too. Betty was not willing to leave without her daughter Mahtob. Betty had he chance when Moody was called off on an emergency. They hide for 2 days and finally made it out of the city and was able to make it to America after to long years Betty Moody A women who escaped what she considered Prison with 2 things against her being a woman and an American

7. Women Treated Unfairly In Iran Women in Iran are beaten constantly. Women are required to wear clothing to cover their bodies and heads. Clothing is to be worn loosely on their bodies. Women are made to stay at home and take care of the children and obey what they are told from their husbands.

8. My OpinionI feel that this book has opened my eyes to what is going on in other countries and what is happening to those around us to be more aware of these things before just taking vacations to certain places as you may not all return. I was unaware of the conditions Iranian people live in on a day too day basis. I am definitely aware of this now from reading this book and hurt there are people out there that live this way and hope it changes in time.
