2. Initial Reaction
âą My initial reaction to the brief was excitement because I get to choose
what I do and create and having the free roam to do what I want to within
the set brief lets me show of all my skills and demonstrate everything I've
learnt this year in one project.
âą My first and only idea was clothing brand. I chose this because I can show
of my print production skills within making my products such as posters
and a magazine. I want to show of my print production skills because that
what I think I'm best at and this is want I would like to go into in further
education and also I believe I can get my best grade from doing print
production.
âą I am going to make a clothing brand logo, clothing for the brand, a street
wear magazine promoting the brand and advertisements, posters. I was
going to create a clothing advert as well yet I thought it would be hard to
get the clothing actually made for the shoot and with it being a video
advert I donât have the skill level in editing to mask the logo onto the t-
shirts in the video.
7. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
All my photos are logos of very popular street wear brands. The main repetition of
these photos are most of the logos have a small design at the top the name in a strong
bold font underneath. Another repetition of these images are the majority of them
are black so they stand out because black is a very strong colour. Each image is rather
simplistic yet are very eye catching. The majority of the font used in these logos are
bold and easy to read this is because it allows the audience to notice the brand name
easier, this also allows more of a chance to bring in new customers.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my product a lot because each of these logos are very
simplistic yet eye catching and this is the rout I want to go down with my own logo.
Looking at these photos it shows how important a font can be with that being the
main influence for people to buy there clothing. Also I have realised that in some cases
a brand attracts a massive following just due to the logo which then makes the
clothing more constantly bought because they have an attachment to the brand
because of the brand logo. In a majority of these images they have a very memorable
design either around the font or on top, this is something to want to keep in mind
while making mine due to it being a massive part of all these big street wear brands.
9. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
The main repetition in all of these posters are they have a main shot of model, majority
male, wearing a piece of the brands clothing in the centre of the poster in front of this
grungy, urban type back drop. They choose this type of backdrop to represent the type of
product there selling which is street wear. Another repetition throughout the majority of
these images are in black and white this then relates to the other repetition of the grungy
tone to the posters. There's a couple of images on the mood boards that repeat the
âmodern graphic designâ style poster. Theses posters are a mixture of bright colours thrown
in with a dark tone back ground with the photos not being the whole poster just being in
the corner. With the posters looking like this they also represent the modern street wear
without going down the route of the grungy look but doing a modern futuristic route.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
This mood board will influence my clothing posters because I want to show through my
posters that my clothing is street wear and not high fashion and this is what theses posters
have done very well will the backgrounds or the futuristic modern look and that what I will
take from this mood board. After looking at these photos I will take more thought into my
backdrop and the overall style of the photo because thatâs what will engage the audience
more. This mood board has also shown me that a model is very important I think if you
have a model it will influence the audience to check out the clothing and buy because they
potentially might want to look like the model or like the look of the t-shirt on him this to
me is more important than just showing of the clothing.
11. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images
styles/fonts/tone/mood
The main repetition in this mood board is the simplistic style of them all where there's a title
and a couple articles which are in a very small font. I chose these because I really like the look
because it looks professional, clean and has this graphic design style to them. The fact that
there's more focus on the model on the front makes me like these more because there not a
lot going on and its not overwhelming. The simplistic look intrigues me more and makes me
want to read. Another repetition is the colours on each magazine I've chose they all use
vibrant colours. This makes the magazine stand out and catches your eye a lot more than a
magazine cover with just a black background and white text. Through each image I have
chosen on my mood board all the title fonts are bold, strong and easy to read which then may
influence them to read. All of the main images of the magazine especially the GRIND ones
there very cool and edgy photos with a bright tone using the blue sky in them as the
background.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my product a lot this is due to the fact I loved researching these
magazine covers because I love the look of them all and I can take bit from all of them but the
main thing ill take from all of them is the simplistic bold fonts with the small font articles
because I love the look of them. I also want to do this on my product because It influences me
to go get a cool looking photo to go on the from because it'll be the main stand point people
see. Another main thing ill take from these are the vibrant colours because I think it gives a
warm feeling towards the reader and makes them want to read more. I will also take the
modern graphic design style that these have used and take this to use on my own product.
13. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
The main repetition in the images on the mood board are the colours of the actual pieces
of clothing , there just your standards colours ; navy, black , white and grey , this is because
there colours will sell the most because they go with everything. Another repetition is the
designs most of them are just the logo printed on the front or back of the t-shirt in white or
black and very simplistic yet a couple of them have colourful different designs when on the
back or front of a black t-shirt can brighten it up and make it more eye-catching. Through
the mood board everything item is your standard relaxed fit. Through the mood board
there a simplistic style of logo as the design.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
The main influence I will take from this mood board in the colours picked for the clothing
because I think going for these standard colours which suite everything will be a safe bet
when starting a new clothing line because people are more likely to buy these colours on
clothing. The second thing I will take from this mood board is the different designs because
I like the variety of logo as designs and different cool ones because I think that branches
out to a larger audience because some people might like the simplistic clothing wear its just
the logo on a t-shirts yet some other people might like the cool different designs which
stand out a bit more so I can cover all bases.
