- Be careful when deciding what colors to put together. It is best to use a darker colored background with light colored font. Color is a good way to emphasize and focus your viewers attention. Try to work on a color scheme.
- Do not write more that six words on a slide. Or more that 6 lines of text. The audience will just read what you wrote on the slide and not pay attention to what you are saying. Also make sure that you use a font style and size that is ledge able to everyone in the audience no matter where they are sitting. Pick a font that is easy to read.

- Use nice high quality photographs. Do not make it pixelated, keep it clear. Avoid Clip Art or cartoons. The audience has seen the clip art many times and wants to see something different and original. Try to use pictures of real people so the audience can feel like they can connect with what you are talking about.
- Be an original make up your own theme. Try not to use the PowerPoint templates. The audience has seen them many times before and they want to see original images.
- Ask yourself when adding data “how much detail do I need?” presenters usually puts too much data in their charts that the audience doesn’t understand.
- Limit the amount of transitions that you use. It can take away from your presentation. When using a transition from one slide to the next only use 2-3 different transitions throughout the PowerPoint.
- Add videos when they will boost the point you are making in your presentation. They are something for the audience to listen to other than just you.
- Keep it simple. The audience wants to hear what you have to say not what the PowerPoint has to say. The less words on the page the better.
- It is best not to read from a slide covered with texts and picture. You should be telling the audience a story and the PowerPoint is just a visual to go with your story.
- Why are you giving this speech? What are you going to be talking about? What do you want the audience to learn from this?
- Make sure you are not just having your back to the audience and just staring at your slides. Make eye contact with your audience. Really try to engage with them.
- Be very energetic in your presentation. Present with something you are passionate about so that you are engaged and excited about what you are presenting. Make the audience believe in what you are saying.
- You always need to prepare for giving a presentation. A presentation is not something you can just get up and do without practicing. Highly affective presentations take hours to prepare. You can even practice in front of other people and get feedback.
- People everywhere in the audience needs to be able to hear you so speak louder than you normally would and also make sure you are speaking clearly and articulation your words.
- Keep good body language and posture. You can move around a little bit while you are presenting. You do not have to stand still and you can talk with your hands. It is ok to move you do not have to stand in one place that gets a little boring for the audience.
