In 2017 startten de Hogescholen Saxion Enschede en Hanze Groningen Bouwtex, het onderzoek naar de mogelijkheden van textiel voor de bouw in het kader van renovatie en herbestemming van gebouwen. Op 15 januari is het onderzoek afgerond met een eindevent. Hier de lezing van onderzoeker en begeleider Laura Erkens van Saxion: Prototype interior textilewalls voor Saxion Epydrost gebouw.

2. Renovations of buildings are expensive, time-consuming and have high
environmental impact.
How can textile materials be used for interior wall applications, in
educational buildings.
Modular, lightweight, cost effective, multi-functional, isolation and acoustic
properties, sustainable (e.g. circular, bio-based) textile materials?

This specific area is used by students, researchers and teachers from Saxion.

Divide the space, feels open accessible and attractive.
Cost effective: lightweight, easy applicable, multifunctional.
Modular: applicable for various sized spaces.
Low environmental burden: made from recycled/bio-based or low
environmental impact materials.
No health hazard/FST: Flame, smoke and toxicity compliance.
Acoustic properties: reduce sound from weaving loom 80dB to 60dB

6. Prototype
6 Metal frames: 1m wide, 2m high.
Wood panel covered with:
- Acoustic foam + sky blue recycled felt
- Low & Bonar Colcore + sky blue recycled felt
with Velcro
- Heat sensors to measure temperature on 3
different heigths
