The monthly report from the Boiling Springs High School Library Media Center summarized several February activities and statistics: - Author Alan Gratz visited and conducted sessions for 85 students on Shakespeare, creative writing, and a Q&A that received positive feedback. - Resource lists on diseases and Holocaust survivors were created from the print collection for teachers' classes. - Instructional lessons were provided to classes on researching using library resources like the catalog and databases. - Book trailers were created by students in two English classes with assistance from the librarian.

2. Resource Lists Mrs. Bullington created two Resource Lists based on our print collection. Mrs. Cribbs requested a list on diseases. Mrs. Hursey, 9th grade campus media specialist, requested to borrow books on experiences of Holocaust survivors for a class conducting research on the WW II event. We created a Resource List and pulled books for the 9th grade campus to use.

3. Pathfinders Mrs. Bullington edited the Elizabethan Age Pathfinder to reflect new resources and to provide resources on topics being covered in Mrs. Gray’s class research related to A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

4. Information Literacy Lessons Both Mrs. Hames and Mrs. Gray requested that we provide instruction to their classes beginning research on using the library’s resources. We reviewed using our Destiny catalog, accessing and using SC DISCUS resources, and accessing and using the Pathfinders created specifically for the research being conducted.

5. Book Trailers On Feb. 24th and 25th, Mr. Campbell conducted sessions on creating book trailers for Mrs. Menzer’s and Ms. London’s English classes. He provided resources to assist the students as they began creating book trailers for class projects.

6. SCYABA Voting On Feb. 25th, students who had read at least 3 of the 2010-2011 SCYABA nominees were able to vote for the book they wanted to win the 2011 SC Young Adult Book Award.Instructional Days<br />1st semJanFeb.
